Painful oral Lichen Planus got 80 percent better with Life Force homoeopathy treatment.
A 45-year-old businessman, Mr. V.G. (Patient ID: 48097), suffering from oral lichen planus, after taking steroids for about 1.5 to 2 years since the onset of complaints, reached Life Force Homoeopathy over the phone on 18th May 2022. The patient had moderate blackish discoloration and white lesions over both inner cheeks, which were spreading gradually. He experienced biting-type pain that led to difficulty in eating and drinking. The pain was aggravated after consuming hot or spicy food or drinks.
Investigations:
A biopsy of buccal mucosa (dated 1.1.2022) showed hyperplastic squamous epithelium with koilocytic changes and focal mild dysplasia. The subepithelial tissue was extensively infiltrated by both acute and chronic inflammatory cells. No evidence of malignancy was seen in the tissue.
Associated Complaints:
- Hypertension for 1.5 years, under conventional treatment
- Underactive thyroid for 12 years, on conventional treatment
- Hemifacial spasms, stable for the last 7–8 months with conventional treatment
Physical generals: The patient’s appetite and bowel routine were normal. He had a history of chronic smoking for about 12–15 years, which he successfully quit 2 years ago.
Life Space:
The patient is the eldest son in his family. He had a happy childhood and shares cordial relations with his parents. Married life is fruitful; he has two daughters. He lives in a joint family with his parents.
The patient is mild, confident, reserved by nature, and very affectionate. He is anxious about his disease and remains worried, which makes him irritable at times. Two years ago, he faced a stressful situation at his workplace.
Family History:
- Father: Asthma
- Mother and sister: Underactive thyroid
After studying the case in detail, Dr. Shah prescribed research-based homeopathic medicines along with dietary advice.
Follow-ups
- 9th July 2022 (1st follow-up): 30% improvement. Spread of lesions has stopped, and there is no pain. Patient discontinued Kenocort ointment for 25 days.
- 9th November 2022: Further improvement. Lesions reduced in size, no spread, pain only occasional while blowing the mouth. The patient was able to eat and drink.
- 1st March 2023: No further spread or pain while opening the mouth, but no change in blackish discoloration or white marks.
- 6th May 2023: Slight increase in white lesion over the left cheek, but improvement seen in blackish lesion. No pain was experienced.
- 7th November 2023: Improvement continued. No new lesion, no pain.
- 13th July 2024: Further improvement in lesions of both cheeks.
- 7th November 2024: Overall 70–80% improvement in oral lichen planus lesions.
Conclusion:
In this case, after starting homeopathic treatment, improvement was noticed within 3–4 months. The progress of the disease was brought under control, drug dependency was stopped, the extent of lesions decreased in size, and the patient got rid of pain. Within 2.5 years of treatment, the patient achieved 70–80% recovery.
