Oromandibular Dystonia Treated Successfully With Homeopathy by Dr. Shah At Life Force

A 64-year-old male patient, Mr. G. T. (PIN: 44491) started online treatment at Life Force on 4th January 2021 for his complaints of Oromandibular dystonia. He was suffering from the condition for the last 7 years and it was progressing gradually. The patient’s main complaints were the clenching of the jaws (Bruxism) while talking, sleeplessness, involuntary clenching of the jaws, difficulty in chewing, talking, stretching of the facial muscles, inability to open the mouth fully, and pain on talking for a long time. He was experiencing multiple episodes daily. His relief from the complaints was better on rest, closing his eyes, and sleeping. His complaints used to get aggravated due to a lack of sleep. He used to experience dryness of the mouth on continuous talking for more than 20 minutes.

He was taking antidepressants for 7 years. He had taken Botox 5 injections 7 years ago and was presently on Tablet Pacitane (benzodiazepine) 2 mg thrice a day.

Detailed case-taking was done by considering both his mental and physical generals.

Physical Generals:

The patient had a good appetite and was following a mixed diet. He had a strong craving for fish and liked eating mutton and spicy food. He didn’t have any aversions to any specific food. He had a moderate thirst and would drink about 3 liters of water a day. He experienced average perspiration more on the back. He was intolerant to the hot weather. His bowel movements were regular with well-formed stools. The patient had no urinary complaints. His sleep was disturbed, as he was anxious about his son and his future.

On physical examination, the patient had a tall physique and no deformity. He updated his BP (140/90mmhg) and his weight was examined (79 kg).

Psychological and Family Make-Up:

The patient was a retired officer and now used to be at home enjoying his retired life. His wife was a homemaker. The patient had three kids. He was anxious about the kids and had disturbed sleep.

The patient’s mentals were noted. His childhood was happy and his youth life was happy and stressful due to work pressure.  He was very anxious and fearful, had negative thoughts that were baseless, short-tempered, used to think as if friends backbiting, and was depressed.

Self and Family Medical History:

The patient was a known case of hypertension since 1982 and was on Allopathic medicines. There was no relevant family history of any major illness or autoimmune conditions.
After going through the case in detail, Dr Shah prescribed his research-based homeopathic medicines to the patient. He was also advised to follow diet tips along with the medicines.
