Chronic Sinusitis Successfully Treated with Homeopathy

Mrs. S.R., a forty-eight-year-old female, Patient ID: 49006, started treatment for chronic sinusitis at the Life Force Homeopathy Chembur branch in January 2024.  She had been suffering from sinusitis since October 2023; her primary complaints included facial pain, fever, headache, cough with green expectoration, sneezing, and nasal discharge. The condition was triggered by excessive traveling due to family functions and weddings. She had not taken any conventional medication for the condition.

In association with sinusitis, the patient also had psoriasis since childhood (age nine) and was diagnosed with Thalassemia minor thirteen years ago during her pregnancy.

Regarding her general symptoms, the patient was thermally hot and had average perspiration. She had marked cravings for spicy food and sweets. Her appetite was average, and her bowel habits were satisfactory. Sleep was disturbed and interrupted.
Mrs. R. lived with her husband and two children. She had completed her B.Com. and fashion design studies and was currently a housewife after previously working. Her husband worked as an accountant, and their son was also in the accounting profession, while their daughter was still studying.

The family history revealed significant health conditions; her father had suffered from cancer and polycythemia vera, while her mother had hypertension. The patient herself had inherited thalassemia minor from her mother.
Her past medical history included a urinary tract infection. She had also received steroid injections with steroid medication for six months, five years ago, and had briefly tried homeopathic treatment five months in the past for her psoriasis complaint.
Mentally, the patient presented as mild, gentle, and sober. She was expressive and precise in her communication. She exhibited some irritability and worry, with occasional frustration. Despite these challenges, she maintained good memory and analytical capabilities.

The case was studied in detail by Dr. Rajesh Shah, and considering both the presenting complaints and the constitutional symptoms, Silicea 30 was prescribed.

Follow-ups:
For the first follow-up in February 2024, the patient reported no significant improvement in sinusitis; she continued to experience headaches and post-nasal drip. From March 2024 to June 24, the condition remained stable with persistent sinusitis symptoms and headache. From July to September 2024, there was a slight improvement noticed, with headaches occurring only occasionally. The patient reported a sensation of something stuck in their throat and difficulty in expectoration, chest congestion, and a feverish feeling on exposure to the cold.

In October 2024, marked improvement was observed. No runny nose, sneezing, facial pain, or congestion. Headache resolved. Only mild suffocation was reported in the presence of strong smells or incense.
The latest follow-up done in November 2024 showed that significant improvement was maintained. No major episodes of cold or sneezing were reported. Only mild symptoms occurred with prolonged AC exposure.

Conclusion:
The case demonstrated a gradual but steady improvement throughout treatment, with maximum relief achieved by October 2024, approximately one year after starting treatment. The patient's quality of life improved significantly, with most symptoms either resolving completely or reducing to minimal levels, proving the efficacy of homeopathic management in recurrent respiratory disorders like sinusitis.
