An Elderly Trigeminal Neuralgia Patient Found Pain-Relief With Homeopathy
A 69-year-old female, Mrs. K. P. (PIN: 29358) visited the clinic of Life Force for the treatment of her complaints of trigeminal neuralgia. Her MRI brain on 23rd February 2016 showed a vascular loop across the superior surface of the root exit zone of the right trigeminal nerve.
Her right trigeminal nerve was affected (V1 & V3 division). She had presented with electric-shock-like pain in the lower molar tooth while eating. She had a history of tooth extraction. She had pain along the right-sided jawline with tingling & burning pain in the right lower jaw. She was operated for the same twice but had no relief.
As per the patient’s physical generals, she had an aversion to spicy things and an excessive appetite.
Self and Family’s Medical History:
Her father had a history of lung cancer. The patient was a known case of underactive thyroid, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia along with Trigeminal neuralgia.
She had anxiety with a mild & gentle disposition on the mental level.
At Life Force:
After thorough research, Dr. Shah prescribed homeopathic medicines to the patient.
On her first follow-up, she had 25-30% relief from her symptoms.
On 16th January 2017, she had a 75% improvement in her relief from the pain symptoms.
In May 2017, her Tegretal dose was tapered off.
In July 2017, she could eat mild spicy food.
She again has started with a 300 mg Tegretol dose twice daily since August 2017. She had presented with aggravation in the symptom on the follow-up on 11th October 2017.
In April 2018, her progress was status quo.
On her follow-up on 4th June 2018, she showed 75% relief in her symptoms. The amelioration continued through July 2018.
Since December 2018, she tapered her Tegretal doses to 150 mg twice daily with the absence of any episodes which was evaluated on 13 May 2019.
In July 2019, she was again taking Tegretal 300 mg twice daily, as she had suffered from more episodes.
On 14th September 2019, she had no episodes of Trigeminal Neuralgia. So, she was advised to taper the Tegretal doses.
On 16th November 2019, she had no episodes since the last follow-ups.
On 17th March 2020, the patient reported that her pain has reduced to mild, dull pain that too occurred only while eating.
On 10th May 2020, she informed us that she has no pain for 2 months.
On 24th July 2020, she had pain twice a week for a few seconds in the last 1 month.
On 17th September 2020, she was taking Tegretal 150 mg once daily, and she had mild pain 2-3 times a week.
On 11th November 2020, her pain had increased in intensity for 1 month. So, she increased her Tagretal doses to 300 mg once daily.
On 20th January 2021, her condition was improving.
In May 2021, she again started taking Tegretal 300 mg twice daily, and she used to get mild pain very rarely.
In September 2021, the patient experienced reduced pain.
On 8th January 2022, again she had unbearable pain which was stabilized on 900 mg Tegretal daily.
Again, the patient’s relief from the pain was better on 12th March 2022. The dose was reduced to 150 mg twice daily in the last 3-4 days. The patient’s relief from the pain was improving after that.
When she visited the latest on 24th November 2022, her relief from the pain was a lot better. Also, she had no episodes affecting her at all.
She continues with Dr. Shah’s homeopathy treatment for complete recovery.
