A US-Based Physician Found Improvements in Her Relief from Interstitial Cystitis (IC) with Homeopathy

A 66-year-old female patient from the United States, Mrs. S. S. (PIN: 27403) was experiencing a challenging and chronic condition related to her urinary bladder sensitivity and urinary pH. She had been suffering from interstitial cystitis since 2016. Interstitial cystitis, also known as painful bladder syndrome, is a complex and often painful condition that can significantly impact a person's quality of life.

She had constant pain in her bladder with burning in her urethra. Her complaints would turn worse after having sour foods, alcohol, and vinegar. She underwent a cystoscopy whose outcome was normal. She was taking Tablet Sodium Bicarbonate tablets (250 mg) 4 times a day to maintain urine pH between 7.0 and 7.5. The requirement to maintain a urine pH between 7.0 and 7.5 with sodium bicarbonate tablets indicated the need to reduce acidity in the urine to alleviate symptoms.

The patient’s bladder sensitivity was strongly related to acidic components in her diet and the resulting urinary pH. This is a common characteristic of interstitial cystitis, where certain foods and beverages can trigger or exacerbate symptoms such as bladder pain and burning when the urine pH falls below 7.0.

Mrs. S. S. mentions that despite her efforts, she still experiences bladder pain and urethral burning in the afternoons.

Previously, she was treated with NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and Ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic).

Mrs. S. S. was a family physician by profession and is retired now. She gets easily stressed, overwhelmed, and discouraged with even minor issues in her day-to-day life. She felt extremely wrecked and this bladder illness led to depressive feelings as it was a constant pain that had to be managed all the time. Very limited food choices resulted in stress and a lack of appetite in her case.

Based on the basic history provided by the patient, Dr. Shah prescribed Thuja occidentalis 30 4 pills 3 times for 4 months along with his research-based medicines.

Follow-Ups:

In her first follow-up on 13th July 2022, her bladder complaints were as it is with no positive change with Homeopathy. Dr. Shah reviewed her case and prescribed Staphysagria-30, 6 pills 2 times.

In the next 8 months of homeopathic treatment, her burning and bladder pain became less severe, however, she still had to adhere to a strict diet. Even the slightest foods which she was sensitive to, if she took it by accident caused severe bladder pain to her.

In June 2023, the patient informed us that her relief from the bladder pain was much better. Also, she has started eating some foods that she was sensitive to before.

On 23rd September 2023, the patient informed us that she was responding well to Homeopathic medicines and was better by 75%. Also, she mentioned that she can eat a lot of foods now which was unable to eat earlier. Mrs. S. S. is continuing with homeopathic medicines for full recovery.

Conclusion:

The management of interstitial cystitis, in cases like Mrs. S. S., typically involves careful attention to dietary choices and other strategies to maintain a less acidic environment in the bladder. With proper Homeopathic treatment protocol and dietary strategies, Mrs. S. S. responded well and experienced immense relief. Homeopathic treatments often focus on addressing various health issues by stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, including hypersensitivities.
