A Software Developer Overcame PCOD with Homeopathy

Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) is a disorder commonly affecting women of reproductive age, leading to symptoms such as irregular menstruation, weight gain, acne, excessive hair growth, and ovarian cysts. Ms. I.O., a twenty-seven-year-old software developer, visited the Life Force Homeopathy Thane branch (Patient ID: 53172) on 07.12.23 for the treatment of PCOD from which she has been suffering for the last 4 years. She had irregular menstrual cycles, used to get menses once in 2 or 3 months, and had oligomenorrhea, which is scanty menses. She had been using homeopathic medications for two years, which helped her with her irregular periods. The treatment went well while she was taking them. After stopping homeopathic treatment, she stopped getting periods, and when she saw us, she complained of facial acne during her monthly cycle, which got worse as her periods drew near. Before and after her period, she had mood swings. She also complained of bloating and constipation, along with menstrual irregularities.

Investigation :

USG Pelvis (27.09.23)

Bilaterally bulky ovaries with peripherally situated immature follicles s/o polycystic ovary pattern.

CT scan abdomen (07.11.20)

USG  Pelvis (05.11.20):

ovarian morphology suggestive of polycystic ovarian disease.

At Life Force Homeopathy, a detailed case was taken. Dr. Rajesh Shah studied the case in depth and prescribed homeopathic medicine Sepia 30 based on the totality of the symptoms. We also advised some supplements for deficiencies seen in the blood report, and subsequent follow-ups were taken regularly.

Family History: Mother had an acidity problem, and father had diabetes.  Her grandfather from the maternal side had cancer of the large intestine.

Physical generals: Her appetite was average, with no specific cravings and aversions for food. Her sleep was sound, and she was ambithermal.

Mental Generals: She does not express herself, is easily agitated, lacks confidence, misses her father, but does not cry, and does not even cry after her father went missing.

Past History: In the past, she suffered from allergic rhinitis and chicken pox.

Follow-ups:

In her first follow-up dated 21.01.24, menses flow was normal, and the menses came after 3 months; the flow was for 5 days. She had mood swings after menses for 2 to 3 days and got less acne on her face.

Follow-up dated 02.03.24 reported no menstruation in February, however, she suffered slight abdominal pain and mood swings. She reported that the severity of her acne had decreased.

On her next follow-up date, April 13, 24, she mentioned she got menses after 2 months with a moderate flow for six days, decreased mood swings, and acne. Her LMP was 26.03.24.

By 13.07.24, her periods were three days late, with a moderate flow for five days, and she had pimples on her forehead before menstruation but with milder severity.

Follow-up done on August 17, 24. She had regular periods with moderate flow and reduced forehead acne before and following menses. Her LMP was 18/08/24. She mentioned cramps in the abdomen during menses. As per the case need, medicines were revised.

Follow-up on May 11: 24 menses were regular and lasted for 5 days. Her LMP was 14/10/24, with mild facial acne before menses, minimal emotional fluctuations, and an improvement in her general health.

Follow-up 07/12/24 revealed 90% recovery, a regular menstrual cycle for six months, mental and physical well-being, LMP was 11/11/24, menses lasted for five days with normal flow, mild abdominal pain before menstruation, and acne on her face, particularly around the forehead and chin. Before her periods, acne was more noticeable.

Conclusion:

This case demonstrates the effectiveness of homeopathy in treating PCOD by addressing hormonal imbalances, leading to the regulation of menstrual cycles and a reduction in acne, abdominal pain, and mood swings. By restoring hormonal balance, the treatment also contributed to weight loss, allowing her to lead a more confident life.
