Thyroid function returned to normal without hormone replacement
To receive treatment for an underactive thyroid, a housewife named Mrs. V.P. and her spouse went to the Life Force Homeopathy Thane branch (PatientD: 53782) in 2017. She has had dandruff, 50–60 strands of hair falling out each day, weakness, sadness, and mildly brittle toenails. Over the past three years, she has gained about 10 kg of weight. She experienced mood changes before menstruation. For the first two days of her menstrual cycle, she experienced spotting, but after that, it flowed normally for five to six days. She suffered from frontal headaches all the time, which used to become worse in the sun. Since 2017, she has been undergoing homeopathic treatment.
Associated disease: She had an acidity issue that was stable with home remedies.
Family History: The maternal cousin''s sister has an underactive thyroid, and another sister has diabetes.
Past History: She suffered from gallstones and kidney stones.
At Life Force Homeopathy:
A detailed case history was taken, and after evaluating all her physical and mental generals, Dr. Rajesh Shah prescribed Natrum muriaticum 30. She was also advised of blood investigations; some deficiency was found, for which the supplement was advised. Follow-ups were taken regularly.
Follow-up Details:
By 20.03.24, there had been a slight improvement; she felt more energized, and her hair had been falling out better than it had, but the other complaints remained the same.
She sent feedback on June 12, 2024, noting that she was stressed out due to the death of her father. She had an early menstrual cycle for six days, followed by two days of spotting and four days of regular flow. Her acne had gotten worse around her jawline, but she no longer complained of weakness. Her weight was steady and unchanging.
Her acne had improved by July 28, 2024, and she had a regular flow for five days after her period arrived four days early. Hair loss decreased, and minor concerns like back pain improved generally.
Update on 10.09.24: Improved weakness, 3–4 acne near the jawline, 3 days of minor spotting after menstruation, and increased hair loss. Thyroid levels: TSH - 4.67, T3 - 1.09, T4 - 7.89. There is a slight increase in hair fall, still not on thyroid supplements, but thyroid levels are improving.
Follow-up on October 25, 24: Everything was stable, no new complaints have been seen, hair loss has decreased to 35–40 strands per day, menstruation was regular, mood swings continued to exist, the menstrual flow was steady (6-7 days), and nails have improved.
Follow-up on 03.12.24: Hair fall reduced to 25-30 strands/day, menses with spotting for 2-3 days, followed by 6-7 days of normal flow, and mood swings persisted. Thyroid levels: TSH: 3.450, T3: 1.32, T4: 8.53. She complained of acne during menses, but it was less severe. No thyroid supplement was taken.
Follow-up on January 15, 25: Acne decreased, hair loss decreased to 15–20 strands each day, menstrual spotting lasted 3 days before flowing for 8 days, and early menstruation was seen. Thyroid parameters: 3.450 TSH, 1.32 T3, and 8.53 T4 Menstruation began sooner but was regular, thyroid function is improving without the need for supplements, and acne and hair loss have significantly decreased.
Follow-up on 15.02.25: Hair fall reduced to 20-30 strands/day, menses early by 5 days, and mild acne and hyperpigmentation before menses were seen. Overall stable, thyroid function remains in the normal range without supplements. A thyroid function test was done on 21st March 2025, which showed TSH 2.15 (0.45-5.50 uIU/mL), which is within normal limits.
Conclusion:
Mrs. V.P.''s condition showed consistent improvement with homeopathic treatment. Her thyroid function gradually normalized, as reflected by the reduction in her TSH levels from 6.15 uIU/ml to 2.15 uIU/ml, despite the absence of conventional thyroid supplements. This case demonstrates that when Homeopathy is started in the early phases of an underactive thyroid, homeopathic remedies can stimulate the thyroid gland naturally to produce its hormones rather than depending on ready-made exogenous hormone supplements.
