The Battle with Eczema Won by a Cheerful Young Girl
Miss A.V., bearing PIN NO. (patient identification number) 47913, is an 8-year-old girl, full of life and laughter who is very talkative, always asks questions, and never shy to speak her mind. On 16th April 2022, she came to our Borivali clinic with her parents. While her parents spoke seriously with the doctor, A.V. was busy looking around the room, touching things, and asking funny questions. She even asked the doctor, “Can I become a doctor too? .But behind her bright smile was a long story. Since she was just 15 days old, A.V. had been suffering from itchy, dry skin rashes. The red patches would appear again and again on the folds of her elbows and knees. Sometimes they were mild, and sometimes they were very itchy and made her cry. Her parents said that for more than 5 years, the eczema kept coming back. They had tried many creams and medicines, but the relief was only for a short time.
It gets triggered especially during the rainy season and cold winters. Sometimes, the itching would get so bad that she couldn’t sleep properly. She had been using steroid creams on and off for about 2 years, which helped a little at first—but only for a short while. The redness and itching would always return.

Follow up’s:

August – November 2022:

December 2022 – March 2023:
There were red, itchy patches with occasional bleeding, especially on both arms and popliteal fossae. Triggers included colored items, viral fever, and food items like Frooti. Cough with expectoration and the need for nebulization were noted.
April – July 2023:
There was some improvement, particularly in the popliteal areas, but a relapse occurred in the cubital fossae. Travel and seasonal changes triggered new patches, including over the chest, though lesions on the legs and face had healed.
August – November 2023:
Her skin remained stable for some time, but a mild relapse occurred in September following a viral fever. By November, the popliteal patches had cleared completely, cubital patches remained stable, and dryness had reduced significantly with less frequent moisturizing.
December 2023 – March 2024:
Winter brought back moderate flare-ups with painful cracks and bleeding in the elbow areas. By March, eczema returned to the popliteal regions as well, though bleeding and pain had reduced slightly.
April – July 2024:
There was a mix of improvement and relapse; dryness and itching persisted in the cubital areas with occasional bleeding. The relapse occurred earlier than usual, possibly due to increased chocolate intake and weather changes before the rains.
August – November 2024:
There was slight improvement in cubital lesions but a mild increase in lesions behind the knees. Itching improved slightly, but dryness remained constant. The winter season again led to increased itching and dryness in the cubital fossae.
December 2024 – March 2025:
Her skin remained better, but mild rashes and itching returned briefly in January due to winter. By February and March, there were no new lesions or itching, and dryness was well-managed with moisturizer.
April–June2025:
All eczema lesions had settled by April, with no itching. The skin remained stable through May and June with only mild roughness over the cubital region. The main concern now is prevention of relapse, along with sneezing and morning eye irritation—likely allergic in origin.

Miss A.V., a bright and mischievous child, suffered from eczema since infancy with frequent relapses triggered by weather changes and allergies.
