Successful Management of Chronic Duodenitis with Associated IBS, Gallstones, and Anxiety .

A 38-year-old male patient (Patient ID: 50484), working as an AutoCAD professional in Kuwait, came for the treatment of persistent gastrointestinal issues. His main complaints included abdominal cramps, a sensation of food getting stuck in the epigastric region, indigestion, and constipation requiring significant straining. He experienced bloating after meals, a nauseating feeling, general tiredness, and a noticeable loss of appetite. Despite these symptoms, he managed to cook his own meals, preferring home-cooked food over outside meals.
Investigation—An upper GI endoscopy performed on 25/05/2022 revealed active chronic duodenitis with erosion and the presence of H. pylori infection.
Associated complaints: 1) Anxiety (since January 2022): Although initially stable with conventional treatment, he reported disturbed sleep, restlessness, irritability, and mood swings.
2) Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): Characterized by intense bloating and abdominal cramps due to indigestion and constipation.
3) Gallstones: A routine abdominal ultrasound done in October 2023 revealed multiple small gallbladder stones (4–5 mm), leading to acidity and post-meal indigestion.
4) Hypertension: Diagnosed in January 2022, managed with conventional medicines.
Physical Generals: The patient had an average appetite but a marked craving for spicy foods and an aversion to vegetables. His thirst was normal at 2 liters/day, and perspiration was average. His stools were hard, usually requiring straining, and sleep was disturbed mainly due to anxiety and a bloated feeling.
Mental generals: Mentally, the patient appeared mild, gentle, and sober. However, he was under chronic stress, particularly due to professional pressures and health concerns. Restlessness, particularly at work, and disturbed sleep contributed to emotional instability and occasional mood swings.
Based on a detailed case analysis, considering his physical, emotional, and pathological symptoms, individualized homeopathic treatment was initiated under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Shah.
Follow-Ups:

First folow up was taken on 08/03/2023 where the patient was 15% improvement in acidity and slight relief from bloating and cramps.
On 20/05/2023 - There was a 50% overall improvement. Abdominal cramps and pain had disappeared. The sensation of food sticking in the epigastrium and dysphagia were no longer present. He only has occasional mild acid reflux after consuming sweets.
On 26/11/2023 - The patient showed 60–70% improvement. There was no abdominal pain or cramps, appetite had normalized, and no further weight loss was reported. Importantly, the patient had stopped allopathic medications for acidity under medical guidance.
Anxiety levels were reported to be 70% better, with much-improved sleep quality. IBS symptoms had improved by 50%, with fewer episodes of intense bloating.
Conclusion:

This case demonstrates the management of individualized homeopathic treatment in managing chronic duodenitis, IBS, gallstones, and anxiety. The patient showed significant, lasting improvement in both physical and emotional health, with reduced dependency on conventional medications and better overall quality of life.
