Recurrent Upper Respiratory Tract Infections cured by homeopathy in young boy

A male patient of 16 years (Patient ID: 52173) from Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, came to the Life Force Homoeopathic clinic for his upper respiratory tract complaints. The patient had complaints of recurrent fever and recurrent throat infection 2-3 times/year, chest congestion, and redness in the throat, along with swelling in the tonsils and dryness of the throat, and difficulty in swallowing with a pricking sensation while swallowing saliva. The main concern of the patient was fever, which comes every month, rises up to 103-104°F, is followed by chills and headache, and lasts for 2-3 days.

The patient has had these complaints since his birth, having a frequency of 2-3 times in a year, which lasted for 8-10 days and is now progressing.

History of the patient—The patient had a history of convulsions in childhood due to high fever when he was 2-3 years old, which lasted for an hour. The patient also had associated complaints of loss of appetite and headache.

Physical generals—The patient’s diet is average, which includes a mixed diet. Craves eggs, fish, chicken, and egg omelets. The patient also has an aversion to milk. The patient is thermally hot, having no complaints of stools or micturition.

Family history—The patient’s father is a merchant in the navy, and the mother is a homemaker. Parents do not have any complaints.

Mental symptoms of the patient—The patient is calm and mild and cries if he gets angry. He prefers to be silent and likes no arguments. The patient’s childhood was very happy and well supported.

Dr. Rajesh Shah prescribed TUBERCULINUM to the patient based on the present complaints.

Follow-ups:

His first follow-up was taken on 20th September 2023, where the patient had only one episode of fever—102°F for 2 days—but no chills. He took a tab. Dolo 650 mg for 1 day, and the severity was reduced.

His second follow-up was taken on 30th October 2023; at that time, the patient was 20-25% better. Only one episode of fever and throat infection occurred, where the severity was much reduced from before. Sneezing, chest congestion, and dry cough were much better. Appetite was improved.

His next follow-up was taken on 15th December 2024, where the patient was 50% better and had not had any episodes for the last 2 months. No episode of fever or cough, no sneezing or throat pain was present. Appetite was also improved, and no chest congestion was present.

The last follow-up was taken on 29th October 2024, where the patient was almost free from symptoms, had no episode for the last 4-5 months, had no cold or cough, had no fever, and had no chest congestion. This shows that the patient is completely cured.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the use of homeopathy in treating allergic bronchitis in a 12-year-old patient has shown improvements in symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath, as well as overall respiratory function. Homeopathic remedies, tailored to the individual’s specific symptoms and constitutional needs, might have helped modulate the immune response and reduce inflammation, thereby alleviating the severity of allergic reactions.
