Post Delivery Fissure in Ano and Constipation Healed with Homeopathy

One of our existing Rajasthani patients asked about his wife''s ongoing fissure-in-ano symptoms. The 35-year-old woman (Patient Identification Number: 51065) had been suffering every day for the past two years after giving birth. She primarily had moderate bleeding during motions, as well as soreness, itching, and a burning feeling in her rectum. Once or twice a week, she experienced constipation, which made her problems worse. She had tried both ayurvedic and conventional therapies, but neither provided any improvement.

Associated illness:

She had grade I piles and chronic constipation.

Past illnesses:

The patient had chronic constipation for the last 6-7 years and was taking laxatives two to three times a week. But for the last 3-4 months was taking it daily. She had undergone a Cesarean section twice recently, 1.5 years ago. 

Family illnesses:

There was no history of similar complaints in her family. Her mother had hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes mellitus.

Personal and family setup:

The patient lived with her husband, two kids, and in-laws, and the family was close-knit. Her elder son had adenoids and was advised to have surgery. The patient was extremely concerned about the same.

At Lifeforce:

On the 26th of March 2023, based on the patient''s case details, Dr. Shah prescribed her homeopathic medicines. A few necessary dietary changes were also advised. She was asked to refrain from using aluminum vessels for cooking. Also, the importance of regular meals and sleep schedules along with adequate hydration was explained. Regular use of Sitz bath was explained to her as well.

Follow-ups:

At the first follow-up on the 21st of May 2023, the patient mentioned that swelling had reduced and bleeding had stopped. Motions were hard twice in 15 days, and for the rest days were normal and semi-solid. Pain intensity had significantly reduced; however, itching persisted. She had stopped all the conventional medications for the last month. Based on her feedback, Dr. Shah prescribed her homeopathic medicines for another six weeks and asked for an update.

On the 13th of July 2023, the patient gave her feedback. There was a mild burning sensation during defecation, and mild itching persisted; however, there was no episode of bleeding, pain, or swelling. The patient said for the last 10 to 15 days, she could not follow adequate hydration and regular meals and was stressed due to a sad event in the family. She was accordingly prescribed by Dr. Shah.

At the next follow-up on the 5th of Sept 2023, the patient mentioned a mild burning sensation during defecation was present but was better in intensity. The rest of the symptoms were 80% better.

During the next four to five months, the patient reported having no major complaint and was stable. She was accordingly prescribed homeopathic medicines by Dr. Shah for another six weeks.

For the next six to eight months, the patient was stable without any major episodes of fissure or constipation. She was monitored for her diet, adequate hydration, exercises, and proper sleep during the follow-ups and guided always.

The patient last reported on the 30th of January 2025, having no complaints, and was stable. She was following all the advice and doing well.

Conclusions:

This case shows the excellent response of homeopathic medicines in chronic fissures in ano and constipation complaints. Homeopathic medicines not only healed the fissure but also reduced and eventually stopped the tendency for constipation. Also, the diet and lifestyle need to be corrected with accurate guidance for a sooner recovery and better prognosis.
