Medical Student Overcomes Stubborn Tinea with Homeopathy
Ms. G.M., twenty-one years old (Patient ID: 19437), sought treatment for Tinea in January 2024 at the Life Force Homeopathy Chembur branch. She had been suffering from round, raised erythematous eruptions on her buttocks accompanied by severe itching for three months. The condition had been particularly aggravated during the last week of December, which she associated with increased humidity and long hours of sitting while studying. Before consulting Life Force, she had been taking Fluconazole 150mg once weekly for approximately one month with limited relief. The patient had undergone treatment at Life Force for her other dermatological concerns, atopic dermatitis and Prurigo nodularis, with good results.
Regarding her general health parameters, being a vegetarian with an average appetite, she particularly craved salads but had an aversion to sweets. Her perspiration was average, and she described herself as a hot patient, sensitive to heat. Her bowel movements and urination were satisfactory. Her sleep was sound without any significant disturbances. She had a lean, somewhat stooped physical structure.
She lived in a nuclear family with her parents and younger sister. She was pursuing her studies and had completed the third year of BHMS (Homeopathic Medical studies). During childhood, she had a particular fondness for drawing and makeup application. Her father managed a garment business, while her mother was a homemaker. She maintained a happy, well-supported environment.
Family history revealed a significant predisposition to skin disorders. Her mother suffered from eczema, and her younger sister had vitiligo. Her paternal grandfather had diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorder, and hypertension. Her paternal grandmother had hypertension. Her maternal grandmother had suffered from liver and breast cancer.
It was noted that her mother had experienced anemia during the fifth month of pregnancy with her. Her developmental milestones had been normal, and she was born through a full-term normal delivery.
She was observed to be mild, gentle, and shy. She took time to mix with others and was deeply attached to her mother. Though she occasionally experienced anger, it was short-lasting, and she would forget easily. She demonstrated good memory, logic, and intelligence but exhibited a shy temperament.
After studying the case comprehensively, Dr. Shah prescribed Psorinum 200c and Sulphur 30c, tailored to address her physical symptoms and mental disposition, taking particular note of her skin manifestations and family history of skin conditions.
Follow-ups:
During the first follow-up in Jan 2024, the condition was the same; erythematous eruptions were present on the gluteal region with severe itching. the patient had also taken anti-fungal medicines for 10 days.
On March 20, 2024, the patient reported encouraging improvement. Her itching had decreased significantly, and the eruptions on her gluteal region showed approximately 30% improvement. She had discontinued her antifungal medication and had started taking an Ayurvedic preparation (Khadirarista) alongside her homeopathic treatment. Overall, her lesions were showing positive signs of healing.
By her third follow-up on May 9, 2024, she was delighted to report substantial progress. The active lesions had completely resolved, and she no longer experienced itching. Her primary concern had shifted to the hyperpigmentation from the healed lesions.
At her fourth follow-up on July 4, 2024, the patient confirmed the complete resolution of her condition. No active lesions remained on her hips or legs, with only hyperpigmented marks as evidence of her previous condition. She mentioned experiencing some minor itching around her hips during menstruation due to irritation from sanitary pads, but this was significantly less troublesome than her original complaint.
During her September 12, 2024 follow-up, the patient maintained her excellent progress. There were no active lesions or itching, and the hyperpigmentation had begun to reduce.
From November 2024 to January 2025 overall improvement was maintained. The active lesions remained absent, the occasional itching had subsided, and the hyperpigmentation had lightened significantly. She expressed satisfaction with her progress and renewed confidence in her appearance.
During her February 28, 2025 follow-up, the patient continued to be free from active lesions, and the hyperpigmentation had further reduced.
By her final documented follow-up on April 19, 2025, Ms. G.M. had achieved a complete resolution of her condition. No active lesions, itching, or burning sensations remained. Only minimal hyperpigmentation from the old lesions was still visible but continuing to fade.
She expressed profound gratitude for the holistic approach of homeopathic treatment, which had not only addressed her physical symptoms but had also improved her overall well-being and confidence.
Conclusion:
This case demonstrates the efficacy of constitutional homeopathic treatment in managing chronic fungal skin infections, particularly in patients with a family predisposition to skin disorders.
