Living well with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) through Life Force Homeopathy Treatment
A 41-year-old male (Patient Identification Number: 46881) registered at Life Force Homeopathy in September 2023 for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). He had been a known case of IBS since January 2023 and had taken homeopathic medicines from January to April 2023.
The patient presented with bloating in the abdomen that lasted throughout the day, along with loose motions and an ineffective desire to pass stools. He occasionally experienced acidity and mild gastritis, particularly after late-night dinners. He followed a mixed diet and had a history of weekly alcohol intake, which he had stopped in July 2021.
Physical generals: His appetite was average, and he mainly prefers home-cooked food. His intake was 3–4 liters per day. His sleep was unrefreshing. His urination was normal with no complaints.
There was no significant past medical history related to gastrointestinal disorders.
Family history: Mother: Passed away due to myocardial infarction (MI), and brother also passed away due to MI.
Past History: In 2020, post-COVID, the patient developed Allergic Bronchitis and had taken treatment for the same at Life Force Homeopathy.
Investigations:
Investigations done in December 2021 showed low Vitamin B12 levels, for which supplements were advised.
After a detailed case study, Dr. Rajesh Shah suggested necessary investigations and prescribed an individualized homeopathic medicine based on the patient’s symptoms. Dietary advice was also discussed and shared.
Follow-Ups:
In his first Follow-up dated 22nd November 2023, there was no change in the condition. The patient still had bloating and loose stools with an ineffective desire to pass stool. The frequency: 4–5 times/day, mainly in the morning to pass the stool, also stool consistency was semi-solid to watery, accompanied by rumbling in the abdomen, acidity, and bloating
By 30th January 2024, the patient reported improvement; bloating was still present but less than before, and loose stools occurred occasionally, especially after consuming outside food.
By the third Follow-Up dated 12th April 2024, there was an increase in his complaints because of the stress he was going through. The frequency of stools had increased over the last 15–20 days, the complaints of bloating and acidity returned, and he complained of loose stools with a frequency of 3 times/day.
On 14th June 2024, the patient reported being better overall. The frequency of passing stools was twice/day. He still had complaints of bloating and acidity. The consistency of stools improved significantly.
In his last follow-up dated 25th August 2024, his condition remained stable. He was passing stools twice a day, and the bloating and acidity had improved further. Heartburn was also better. The patient was not taking any conventional medication.
Conclusion:
This case demonstrates that classical homeopathic treatment offers an effective and holistic approach for managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It not only improves the patient’s gastrointestinal health but also reduces the dependence on conventional treatments and enhances overall quality of life.
