IBS with Psychological Disturbance Treated Successfully With Homeopathy
A 45-year-old male patient, Mr. T.K. (Patient ID: 46608), from Uttar Pradesh, had an online consultation at Life Force for his complaints of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) on 29th October 2021.
He had been suffering from IBS for the past six months. His symptoms included indigestion after meals and loose motions 7–8 times a day. His stools varied from watery and soft to semi-solid. He also experienced extreme weakness, abdominal pain, bloating, and a sensation of fullness in the abdomen. The complaints worsened after consuming spicy or fried foods.
There was a history of the sudden demise of a close family member, after which his symptoms began. Due to the nature of his profession, he frequently consumed food outside, which further aggravated his condition.
Additionally, he reported high levels of anxiety, especially during episodes, which were often accompanied by palpitations.
Physical Generals:
The patient’s appetite was average, but his thirst was reduced. His sleep was disturbed and often accompanied by recurring bad dreams, typically involving themes such as job loss, examination failure, or suffering from a serious illness.
Psychological and Family Background:
The patient works as a regional sales manager at a medical device company. His job involves a great deal of stress, and he constantly fears losing his job despite performing well. He lives in a joint family and has experienced the loss of both his father and sister. He frequently craves company and has a marked fear of being alone. By nature, he is soft-spoken and calm.
Personal and Family Medical History:
His father passed away due to cancer, and his sister died during the COVID-19 pandemic. His mother suffers from diabetes.
After a detailed evaluation of the case, Dr. Shah prescribed Sulphur 0/1 to the patient.
Follow-Ups:
On 22nd December 2021: At the first follow-up, the patient reported 60–70% improvement. All symptoms had significantly reduced. The frequency of episodes dropped to 1–2 times. There was no pain, stools were semi-solid, and anxiety had mildly reduced. The patient expressed satisfaction with the progress.
On 10th February 2022, further improvement was observed. Only one minor episode occurred, which subsided within a day. Stools were normal, and there was no pain or bloating.
On 28th May 2025, no episodes were reported. The patient stated that he was 90% better with homeopathic medicines.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for successfully treating his condition.
Conclusion:
This case highlights the effectiveness of individualized homeopathic treatment in managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The patient showed consistent and significant improvement in both gastrointestinal and psychological symptoms over time, ultimately achieving 90% recovery without recurrence. The holistic approach addressed not only the physical complaints but also the emotional triggers, leading to long-term relief and improved well-being.
