Homeopathy for Dust Allergy and Allergic Rhinitis
A female patient (Patient ID: 30258) from Surat consulted online on 09/11/2016 at Life Force Homoeopathy for her allergic rhinitis complaints. The patient had been having daily complaints for 20 years, but the progression of the disease was noticed over the last 4–5 years with moderate intensity.
The patient was having complaints of watery coryza, continuous nasal discharge that was sticky, having 2–4 bouts of sneezing every day, itching at the root of the nose, but no nasal blockage. An occasional headache once a week was present. The patient was allergic to dust, perfumes, strong smells, kerosene, and sawdust.
The patient’s associated complaints included DNS, asthma, and sinusitis. The patient had asthma for the last 2–3 years, which was very severe every winter but stable with an inhaler. The patient was having complaints of breathlessness, heaviness in the chest and throat, dry cough, thick expectoration, and a sensation of stuck sputum in the throat. The patient was on the Seroflow 125-HS inhaler for the last 6 months. The patient also complained of flatulence, heaviness in the chest, and tasteless, loud eructations, which were aggravated after eating bananas, apples, and oily food. The patient was also obese, with a weight of 72.4 kg.
The patient had undergone a CT scan for her allergic rhinitis complaints on 28/07/2016. It showed right-sided nasal septum deviation in its bony segments, bilateral fronto-ethmoidal and maxillary rhinosinusitis-infundibular type, and IgE-169 (H).
The patient had a family history of asthma (grandmother) and skin allergy (mother).
The patient’s personal history included average appetite, having vegetarian meals, cravings for sweets, and thirst for 3 liters of water every day. She was ambithermal, having sensitivity to both extremes. The patient had satisfactory bowel movements and no complaints of urine. The obstetric history of the patient included 2 LSCS—an elder daughter in 7th grade and a younger son in 5th grade.
Mental symptoms of the patient—The patient was unsatisfied with her life, as she was having interpersonal conflicts. She was in depression a few years back as she and her husband were dominating and were having problems in their relationship.
Dr. Rajesh Shah gave his medicines according to the case, which involved her physical, general, and mental complaints.
During her first follow-up on 01/01/2017, the patient was slightly better. Watery coryza was better, itching in the nose reduced, sneezing reduced, and she was taking Tab. Xyzal daily.
During her second follow-up on 04/04/2017, the patient got only 2–3 mild episodes in the last 3 months. Watery coryza was much reduced, itching in the nose decreased further, continuous nasal discharge was better, and she was taking Tab. Xyzal every alternate day.
During her third follow-up on 30/06/2017, the patient was better by 50–60% with significant improvement in all the complaints.
During her fourth follow-up on 04/11/2017, her condition aggravated due to seasonal changes. Watery discharge was present along with itching in the nose and sneezing, and the patient took antihistamines for the complaints.
The medicines were prescribed according to the present complaints by Dr. Rajesh Shah.
During her fifth follow-up on 24/01/2018, the complaints were better, and intake of antihistamines was slightly reduced (every alternate day).
Her next follow-up was taken on 25/09/2018. The patient was 90% better, watery coryza was significantly improved, sneezing was much better, itching was much improved, and antihistamines were not taken for 1–2 months.
Her last follow-up was taken on 02/11/2020. The patient has not had any episodes of complaints for the last 5–6 months. The patient said she was completely better, and she committed to the fact that she is cured. The treatment has been stopped since then.
