Homeopathic Medicines Bring Remarkable Improvement for Chronic Psoriasis in Middle-Aged Man
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease characterized by thick, patchy, red, scaly skin that is long-lasting and non-contagious. Its causes include genetic and environmental factors. Common triggering factors for psoriasis include infections, weather (especially dry, cold weather), injury to the skin, stress, smoking, alcohol, side effects of certain medications, rapid withdrawal of steroids, and other autoimmune conditions like HIV or rheumatoid arthritis. Common symptoms include red, scaly patches of skin, extreme dryness of the skin with cracks, itching of the skin with burning and soreness, thickened or pitted nails, and swollen or stiff joints.
Types of psoriasis include plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular, erythrodermic, palmo-plantar, and psoriatic arthritis.
Case Study:
A 43-year-old gentleman (Patient ID: 44830) took an online consultation at Life Force, Jayanagar branch, on 20th February 2021, with complaints of psoriasis that he had been suffering since 2011. The main symptoms he presented with were scaly eruptions on his legs, abdomen, chest, hands, face, scalp, and back. The skin was dry and rough. The itching was worse at night after 9.30 pm, from the heat of bed. His complaints were often aggravated by stress, certain foods like bananas, eggs, etc, and also weather changes. He had a severe burning sensation after scratching.
His past and present treatment history were enquired and updated.
His family history was assessed to rule out a genetic predisposition, and there was no relevant family history of any autoimmune disease. His nephew also had psoriasis. A thorough and detailed case-taking was performed, considering both his mental and physical generals. He was a non-vegetarian with an average appetite and had cravings for sweets. His thirst was less, and he drank around 1.5 liters of water daily. He had less perspiration and couldn’t bear extreme winter conditions. His bowel movements were satisfactory, with no urinary issues. He had a disturbed sleep and preferred sleeping on his right.
Psychological outlook:
The patient had a very happy childhood, supported by a well-knit family. His married life was also satisfactory. He was short-tempered and often raised his voice when angry. He had a history of stress in 2010 due to family issues, after which he began noticing symptoms of psoriasis. He often struggled to forgive others easily. He was reserved and didn’t have many friends, preferring solitude and avoiding company. He frequently had unwanted thoughts, which made it difficult for him to concentrate at work. He didn’t like to share his concerns with others. He also experienced anxiety about the future and his family. He was sensitive and got hurt easily.
His intellectual sphere was also assessed, and his memory, intelligence, perception, logic, and analysis were all found to be good.
Dr. Shah thoroughly reviewed the case file and prescribed medicines after evaluating the entire case. The patient was also advised to follow the psoriasis diet chart given to him.

Follow-ups:
First Follow-Up (13th April 2021):
The patient reported feeling 60% better, with significant improvement in burning sensation and itching. The small eruptions on the hands, legs, abdomen, chest, and back had merged into a larger patch, which showed redness.
Second Follow-Up (13th June 2021):
By this time, the patient was 30-40% improved overall. The larger patches that had merged began healing, and the skin’s texture was returning to normal.
Subsequent Follow-Ups:
The patient continued to show gradual improvement with each follow-up. However, mild flare-ups occurred during climate changes. Despite these flare-ups, the intensity of the symptoms was markedly reduced.
Condition Stability (Since 30th July 2024):
The condition had remained stable with no flare-ups since this date.
Final Follow-Up (21st January 2025):
The patient was 80% better overall and continues treatment at Life Force. He expressed immense satisfaction with the treatment, particularly noting the complete absence of remissions and the stability of his skin symptoms, even during climate fluctuations. The patient conveyed his gratitude to Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for the excellent results.
Conclusion:
Homeopathy can achieve remarkable results in autoimmune diseases like psoriasis by addressing the immunological factors responsible for its development. This is accomplished by considering the totality of the patient''s condition and adopting a holistic approach. This holistic approach makes homeopathy unique compared to other medical systems and ensures a safe, permanent solution to the disease.
