Effective Homeopathic Management of Chronic Recurrent Fistula-in-Ano Without Surgery

A 46-year-old male patient (Patient ID: 55173) was consulted at the Life Force Malleswaram branch on 27th July 2024 with complaints of recurrent fistula-in-ano. He Had recurrent episodes of anal fistula for the past three years, experiencing 1–2 abscess episodes monthly. For the past 15 days, he had a painful, red, boil-like swelling near the anal opening, with whitish discharge. The pain was unbearable during this episode.

A transanal ultrasound performed on 6th May 2024 revealed a left posterior perianal abscess measuring 3.0 × 0.6 cm, extending up to the anal orifice, indicating an acute-on-chronic infection.

Upon initial consultation, a comprehensive case history was taken, focusing on physical and mental state.

Physical Makeup:
Patient followed a vegetarian diet. His appetite and thirst were average.

Bowel movements and sleep patterns were regular.

Family History and Background
The patient works as a production manager. Stayed with wife and Daughter. Both parents have hypertension and diabetes.
Past history: The patient had fissure-in-ano 20 years ago, treated with allopathy. There were no surgical interventions for the current condition.

Mental State
The patient is very polite, reserved, gentle, and concerned about his condition and family. He experiences stress at work.
His wife mentioned that he never gets angry and is usually very quiet.
He keeps saying, "Why has this condition come to me?" and feels very sad about it.

He was prescribed the homeopathic medicine Sulphur by Dr. Shah for his complaints.

Follow-ups.

Four months on, on 28th November 2024,
The previous boil healed completely. Another small boil had appeared 20 days prior but resolved on its own without pain or discharge. Bloating had reduced significantly. The frequency of abscess episodes decreased to once every 45 days.

 31st January 2025,
The patient reported 60–70% overall improvement. No recurrence of boils since the last batch of medicines. Bloating continued to reduce. Bowel movements were normal and painless. No discharge or abscess episodes since November, indicating sustained improvement.

Further follow-up on 8th April 2025 Continued progress was noted with 80–85% improvement.
No recurrence of boils since November 2024. Bloating was minimal, stool passed without pain, and no discharge.
The condition remained stable without active medication.

The patient expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for their effective treatment for recurrent Fistula in ano, which she had suffered from for 3 years, and it vanished in just a few months.

Conclusion:

The patient showed marked and sustained improvement in both local fistula symptoms and associated digestive complaints.
The chronic condition, which had significantly impacted his quality of life, responded very well to individualized homeopathic treatment.
No surgical intervention was required, and the frequency of acute episodes drastically reduced.
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of constitutional homeopathic treatment in managing and significantly improving chronic, recurrent fistula-in-ano without surgery
