BTech student finds relief from Ulcerative colitis naturally and reduced need for conventional medicine

A 20-year-old male, Mr. S.M. (Patient ID: 55116), approached our clinic on 23rd July 2024 for a consultation about his abdominal cramps and mucus in stool complaints that he had been suffering from for one year. A colonoscopy done on 12th September 2023 diagnosed the condition as colitis. Mr. S.M. used to pass sticky, semi-solid stools with mucus 2–4 times throughout the day. His stools were described as very offensive. In addition, he complained of burning in the peri-umbilical region and in the left iliac fossa, which persisted throughout the day. He sometimes suffered from generalized weakness, which would interfere with his daily routine. His complaints were aggravated mainly after consuming oily and spicy food. Despite being on conventional treatment for over one year, there was no significant improvement in his condition. This prompted him to explore homeopathic treatment.

Physical generals:

His appetite was good. He was fond of sweet food, and he had an average thirst. He enjoyed sound sleep, without any dreams or disturbances. He was intolerant of hot weather and temperature and felt more comfortable in cold weather. On observation, his tongue was white-coated with central fissures, and his skin was very dry, indicating possible underlying systemic disturbances.

The patient was tall and lean and had an average body-built type personality. He was pursuing a B.Tech degree. His father is a teacher, his mother is a homemaker, and his brother is a student.

On general examination, his weight was 66.5 kg and his blood pressure was 130/80 mm Hg, which is within the normal range.

Mental Generals:

The patient is very polite and calm by nature. However, he harbored hatred towards his brother, as he often complained about the patient to their father. This dynamic had created a lot of tension at home, and the patient reported irritability towards the entire family. He felt that his freedom was lost due to his brother’s politics in the family. These emotional factors were carefully considered in the case analysis.

Based on his mental and physical symptoms, Carcinosin 30 was prescribed by Dr. Rajesh Shah, along with research-based individualized homeopathic medicines. Lifestyle and dietary guidance were also given.

Follow-Ups:

On 17th September 2024 – No severe episodes were noted; he was taking food at the proper time, his appetite was improving, there was no blood in stools, and there was no abdominal pain. The patient was taking conventional medicine along with homeopathic medicines.

On 7th November 2024 – The consistency of stool was normal, appetite has improved, and allopathic medicine dosage has been reduced.

Conclusion:

Within 6–7 months of treatment, the patient had recovered by more than 80%, and he is still under homeopathic treatment for complete recovery. This case clearly shows the scope of homeopathy and research-based medicines in treating chronic diseases like ulcerative colitis. The above case study demonstrates that homeopathy can be very effective in treating ulcerative colitis, bringing long-term relief without side effects.
