Auto-Rickshaw Driver Found Complete Relief from Chronic Urticaria with Homeopathy

Mr. J. P. (Patient ID: 55595), a 26-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, visited the Life Force Homeopathy Chembur branch in October 2024 to start treatment for his complaint of urticaria.

The patient had been suffering from chronic urticaria since 2022, characterized by raised erythematous, edematous rashes all over the body with severe itching. The condition had progressively worsened since blood donation six months before treatment, with daily episodes occurring for the past six months. Each episode would last approximately one to one and a half hours after taking conventional medicine. The patient was dependent on Tab. Rantac 150 (Ranitidine)- antacid, one tablet once daily at night, and Tab Air M (Montelukast + Fexofenadine)- antiallergic, one tablet once daily since August 2024. Before this, he had tried Tab Zintac 150, Tab. Histac 150, and Calapore A lotion with temporary relief.

The patient also occasionally experienced swelling of the lips and face, occurring once a month. He reported a heat sensation in the affected areas after itching. The intensity of the itching was so severe that it disrupted his sleep pattern.

A comprehensive food allergy test was conducted on 14th August 2024 and revealed allergies to multiple substances, including capsicum, almond, vinegar, eggs, groundnut, lemon, house mites, dog dander, house dust, paper dust, perfume, and several medications, including amoxicillin, Nimesulide, Cloxacillin, Norfloxacin, and paracetamol. His IgE levels were found to be elevated at 132.9 (high) when tested on 20th February 2025.

The patient had a non-vegetarian diet with an average appetite. He has cravings for spicy, sour foods, eggs, and meat. He had no specific food aversions. His thirst was average, consuming 500ml to 1 liter of water daily. He experienced profuse perspiration, particularly on the back, and was generally hot in a thermal state. His bowel movements were satisfactory, and micturition was asymptomatic. He had sound sleep but was often disturbed due to intense itching.

The patient worked as an auto-rickshaw driver and lived with his father, two brothers, and one sister. His parents had divorced one and a half years back, which he mentioned did not bother him significantly.

There was no significant family history of any major illnesses reported.

The patient had suffered from hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice) five years back and was hospitalized for nine days. He had no history of any surgical procedures.

Mr. J. P. was observed to be shy, gentle, and expressive but reserved. He shared everything with his father and was described as money-minded. He had tendencies toward indignation and holding grudges. When angry, he would quarrel and shout. He displayed good memory and intelligence.

Dr. Rajesh Shah studied the case in detail and prescribed Carcinocin 30c, Natrum muriaticum 200c, and Sulphur 30c.

Follow-ups:

For the first follow-up in October 2024, the patient reported that erythematous rashes on the back and thighs were controlled only with T. Allegra 120 mg once daily. On trying to reduce the antiallergic tablet, there was a recurrence of erythematous rashes and facial swelling. The previous conventional medications (Rantac and Air M) were stopped, and he was advised to take T. Allegra 120 mg once daily, but try to reduce to alternate days along with the homeopathic medicines.

In November 2024, the patient reported that the erythematous rashes were controlled with T. Allegra and only had one severe episode in October 2024. He was advised to try to reduce the frequency of taking the antiallergic to alternate days instead of daily.

In January 2025, the condition was still the same with the patient experiencing rashes daily in the morning on hands, legs, and thighs, but these would settle in 4-5 hours after taking T. Allegra. No specific triggers were noted for the recurrence of episodes. In trying to reduce the frequency of the antiallergic, the patient had a severe episode, so he continued taking the medicine daily. Dr. Shah reevaluated the case as the patient''''s condition seemed to be at a standstill.

In February 2025, the patient continued to experience rashes daily in the morning, but the rashes would settle in 2-3 hours after taking T. Allegra instead of 4-5 hours as reported in the previous follow-up, which was considered a step towards improvement.

In March 2025, the improvement continued. The patient was taking T. Allegra 120 mg and had no rashes while on medication. However, rashes would appear if he stopped taking the tablet. He was advised to now increase the interval between the doses of the antiallergic medicine.

In April 2025, remarkable improvement was observed, marking a significant turning point in the course of treatment. The patient had no major episodes of rashes since the last follow-up in March 2025 and had taken T. Allegra only once in the last 1.5 months.

For the latest follow-up done in June 2025, the patient achieved ninety percent relief with complete resolution of symptoms. He reported no episodes of urticaria and no itching on the skin. Most importantly, he had not taken T. Allegra at all since the last follow-up, indicating complete freedom from drug dependency.

Conclusion:

This case demonstrates the effectiveness of homeopathic treatment in managing chronic urticaria. The patient achieved complete relief from his symptoms within approximately eight months of homeopathic treatment. The eventual elimination of conventional medication dependency while maintaining symptom-free status illustrates the potential of individualized homeopathic treatment.
