A Young Techie’s Battle with LPP

Lichen Planus Pigmentosa (LPP) is a rare variant of lichen planus, a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the skin, mucous membranes, hair, and nails. Lichen planus generally presents as pruritic (itchy), purple, flat-topped papules or plaques. In LPP, the characteristic features include hyperpigmented macules or patches, typically on the face, neck, and upper limbs, often in patients with darker skin tones. The lesions of LPP often result in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, leading to noticeable and persistent dark spots on the skin even after the inflammation subsides.

Case Study:

A 26-year-old IT professional (Patient ID: 52557) approached Life Force Homeopathy on 17th September 2023 at the Jayanagar Branch for her complaint of LPP, which she had been suffering from for 1 year.
The main presenting symptoms were hyperpigmented patches on her face, hands, and neck. Her past medical history and treatment history were discussed in detail. The patient had been on steroids for 1 week in the early stages of her condition, but considering the harmful side effects, she opted for homeopathic treatment. There was no family history of autoimmune diseases.
A detailed case-taking was done, considering both her mental and physical generals.

Physical Generals:
She was a non-vegetarian with an average appetite. She had cravings for spicy food and chicken. She disliked sweets and chocolates. Her thirst was average, drinking 2-3 liters of water daily. She experienced average sweating and was not tolerant of extremely hot weather. Her bowel and urinary functions were satisfactory. She had a sound sleep and preferred lying on her side.

Psychological Outlook:
Her mental history was also explored. She was extroverted by nature, but due to her skin issue, she had lost her self-confidence and had largely withdrawn from society. She liked dancing and cooking. She shared all her emotions only with her mother and was very attached to her. She was quite ambitious and goal-oriented. She had anxiety about her health, especially regarding her skin issue.
Her intellectual sphere was in good shape.

After thoroughly reviewing the case, Dr. Shah prescribed a suitable homeopathic treatment.

Follow-up:
The first follow-up was on 22nd November 2023. In this initial follow-up, slight improvement was observed. Also, no new patches appeared.
In the second follow-up on 16th January 2024, further improvement was noted, especially on her face and hands. No significant improvement was seen in the patches on her neck.
In subsequent follow-ups, significant improvement was observed in all the patches.
By 18th March 2025, the patient reported an 80-90% overall improvement. She was very happy and grateful to Dr. Shah and the entire team for the remarkable results.

Conclusion:
Homeopathy offers excellent treatment for Lichen Planus Pigmentosa (LPP). It provides deep healing by improving the body''''s immunity. Since homeopathy targets the root cause of the disease, it ensures a permanent solution to autoimmune conditions like Lichen Planus Pigmentosa. Moreover, homeopathy is safe, effective, and free from toxic side effects.
