A 53-years-old lady, Mrs. A.A.S. (PIN 2972) consulted at Life Force on 22nd April 2017 with a complaint of urticaria. The patient was suffering from urticaria since two years. Her disease had progressed in the last two weeks. At the time of consultation, her thigh(Lt>Rt) and forearm were affected by the disease. She was suffering from severe itching and burning without the eruptions. Redness was severe in her scratched area.
Dermatographism was positive. Dermatographism is a severe form of urticaria expression, where one is able to write on the skin. When pressed with an object or fingernail, her skin showed raised eruptions of urticaria that may remain on skin for some time. No angioedema was present in her case. Her condition was aggravated by eating fermented dhokla, in the summer season, while cooking, in the night, by profuse sweating, and in the early morning. Her condition was better by fanning, kokum water, and applying lacto calamine.
Besides urticaria, she was also suffering from vitiligo and acidity. She was suffering from vitiligo since 12 years and acidity since two to three years. She was following allopathic treatment for vitiligo.
The patient was vegetarian by diet. Her appetite and thirst were excessive. She liked sweet, spicy foods, milk, and fruits a lot. Her perspiration was profuse but generalized. Her motion, urine, and sleep were normal. There was no specific dream.
In her family, her father was suffering from osteoarthritis. Her sister was suffering from hepatitis C and lichen planus. Her grandmother from the maternal side was suffering from cancer. She had pneumonia in the past medical history.
She was a homemaker, but she took tuitions at home. Her husband was doing a job in a garment factory. Her daughter was 21-years-old, and she was doing CA.
She was irritable in nature. She was a confident lady. She was expressive in nature. She liked to gossip and talk continuously.
After studying her detailed case history, she was prescribed research-based molecule for her urticarial complaint.
First follow up
After 2 months of the medication on 2nd May 2017, when the patient gave her follow-up, there was no improvement seen in the eruptions and itching. So, Dr. Shah has done the required changes in her treatment.
Second follow up
The patient gave the next follow-up on 7th June 2017. She got a good improvement in all symptoms of forearms. Her relief from redness, roughness, and itching of eruptions had improved a lot. There were no eruptions on her forearms. But, there was no change in thigh spots. Dermatographism was totally cured. There was no episode repeated after starting the treatment. The patient had not taken any conventional medicine after starting the homeopathic medicine.
Third follow up
On 24th October 2017, she gave her follow-up. All her symptoms had improved by 70%, only one acute episode had appeared three days back.
Fourth follow up
On 29th December 2017, when the patient gave her follow-up, her condition was totally cured. There was no episode repeated since three months. Her itching, burning, redness, and eruptions all were cured totally. Her relief from acidity complaint was also improved by more than 50%.
She is still continuing our medicine for further recovery.
Conclusion:
Homeopathic medicines are deep acting and aim at treating the root cause of disease effectively and improving the immunity. This case shows that proper case-taking and the right selection of homeopathic medicine always give the best results in all chronic diseases.
