A naughty, talkative child Ms. A. A. (PIN 21848) visited Life Force on 29th October 2013 along with her mother. Her mother had been successfully treated in the past with Dr. Shah’s medicines for Urticaria. The fun-loving, sweet child was suffering from Asthmatic Bronchitis (Hyper-reactive airway disorder) since a year. She had four to five episodes in the past one year. Her cold, cough, difficulty in breathing would remain for five to six days and would require nebulization. She would also get a fever and take antibiotics, nebulization, and cortisone as and when required. Her complaints would be more aggravated by the change of weather, cloudy weather, and cold weather.

Her appetite was normal, and she liked all types of tasty foods. She would get more perspiration on the scalp. She could not bear the warm weather. She liked sleeping on her abdomen.

She stayed in a nuclear family with her parents. Her mother was a homemaker. Her father was into service in an oil and gas company.

She was naughty and mixing in nature. She was talkative. She had a mild fear of strangers. She would easily mix and play with other kids.

Her mother had Urticaria which was treated by Dr. Shah. Her grandmother had some skin disease. One of her paternal cousins had asthma.

On examining her, the chest was clear as she had taken nebulization. Her nasal turbinates were swollen. She was weighing 13 kilograms.

Dr. Shah examined her thoroughly and prescribed Medorrhinum 30c two doses along with Calcarea Iodatum 30c for six weeks.

When her mother called up on 18th December 2013 for the first follow-up, she was glad to report 60% improvement in her condition. She did not have any major episode of a cough or breathlessness in the past six weeks. She was having a mild cold for four days. It was the cold season yet her complaints did not worsen. Dr. Shah made the same prescription for the next six weeks.

She visited along with her mother on 8th February 2014 for her second follow-up. The symptoms were stable. She had two episodes in the past two months and required nebulization. The last episode had occurred in the last week with fever and breathlessness. The frequency was still better as compared to twice every month. Her mother also reported about her constipation. She passed stools every alternate day. From the last two months, she had suffered from two episodes of vomiting. Her vomit consisted of food particles. Her weight had increased to 15 kilograms. She was thoroughly examined by the doctor. Dr. Shah made the necessary changes in the medicines and added a few research-based molecules to the prescription. The medicines were given for six weeks.

She visited on 31st March 2014 for her third follow-up accompanied by her mother. Her mother was happy to report overall 75% improvement in her asthmatic bronchitis. There were no complaints for the past two months. She had a mild self-limiting cold once a month. The constipation was better. There was no vomiting in the past six weeks. Her weight had improved to 16 kilograms.

She is still continuing with the medicines to achieve a complete recovery.

Conclusion:

This case illustrates that homeopathy promotes an excellent recovery from asthmatic bronchitis in kids in a short timespan.
