Effective Homeopathic Management of Chronic Psoriasis—A Case Treated Without Conventional Medication
Mrs. S.R., a 59-year-old female (Patient ID: 55669), presented at the Malleswaram Branch on 21st September 2024 with complaints of psoriasis persisting for 1 year, with progressive worsening over the past 6 months.
She presented with dry, scaly, and thickened plaques on both elbows, feet (including soles and between toes), and the middle finger of the right hand. Symptoms included excessive itching, burning pain in the soles, and cracked skin on the soles and fingers. The lesions were characterized by raised, dry patches with fissuring, especially along the margins of the soles.
A comprehensive clinical history was recorded, which focused on both physical symptoms and mental-emotional state.
Physical Generals: The patient had a mixed diet, with an average appetite without any specific cravings or aversions to certain foods. Her appetite and thirst were normal; bowel and urinary symptoms were normal.
Her sleep pattern was normal.
Menopausal status: Postmenopausal for 5 years
She weighed 59 kg, and her BP was 120/90.
Her skin examination was done and showed scaly eruptions on the B/L elbows, B/L feet, between toes, and on the middle finger of the right hand with dryness.
Family History and Background: The patient was married and was a housewife. No relevant family history of psoriasis or autoimmune conditions. All family members are reportedly in good health.
Past medical or surgical history:
She also has a history of varicose veins.
On Cardiac Medicines for Mitral Stenosis
Past Procedure—(Percutaneous Transluminal Mitral Commissurotomy) DONE ON 9/9/2015
Mental state:
Mild-mannered and cooperative. She was anxious about her health
Expressed concern about family life and overall well-being
Based on a thorough assessment of her case, Dr. Rajesh Shah prescribed the constitutional homeopathic remedy Arsenic, selected to address both her physical symptoms and emotional state.
Follow-up and Progress:
After 2 months of medication, on 30th November 2024, on her first follow-up, the condition showed mild aggravation, possibly due to the onset of cold weather. A new reddish scaly patch appeared on the left foot, with increased scaling between the right toes and intolerable itching. Scratching led to bleeding. A new lesion appeared on the neck. Cracks and dryness worsened, especially on the soles and their margins. No change was noted on the elbows.
13th February 2025 (2nd Follow-up): Around 40% improvement was observed in itching. However, scaling on the feet increased, and occasional bleeding persisted. Elbow lesions remained unchanged, and dryness continued. Patches on the neck and buttocks showed improvement with no further spread. Cracks and burning pain in the soles remained but were stable.
On 23rd April 2025, a marked 75% clinical improvement was observed. No active lesions were present. Itching, cracks, and scaling had significantly reduced. Lesions on the elbows, neck, buttocks, and feet had faded. Cracks on the fingers and soles improved; burning pain and bleeding were less frequent. Dryness had notably reduced.
On 1st July 2025: The patient maintained steady progress. No active skin lesions were seen. Mild itching and dryness persisted, especially on the bilateral feet and toes. There were no new eruptions, and prior lesions had completely healed. Cracks and burning pain in the soles were mild and manageable.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for their dedicated care and successful treatment.
Conclusion:
This case demonstrates the potential of individualized homeopathic treatment in managing chronic psoriasis, highlighting gradual yet sustained improvement in both physical symptoms and the patient’s quality of life, without the need for conventional medications.
