A male patient of 64 years, Mr. V. D. T, (PIN NO - 5264) visited our centre on 2nd February 2010 with the complaints of Lichen Planus. He had this complaint since past 1 month. There were few spots on hand , wrist , neck , abdomen , back and groin. He had severe itching in these lesions. He admitted of undergoing some stress in the past few months.
There were no other associated complaints.
In the personal history he had cravings for sweets, salt, spicy and fried foods. He had profuse perspiration on scalp. He was a hot patient. There were no complaints with bowels and sleep.
Professionally he was an engineer and worked as a quality control officer. He lived with wife, son, daughter in law and daughter. His son, daughter and daughter in law all were working and wife was a home maker.
There was no significant family history of any major diseases. On prodding him to speak about his past and present stressful events, he revealed that he was undergoing some family dispute. He was nursing the feeling of insult and suppressed anger against one of the close family member.
His case was studied in detail by Dr. Shah and he was prescribed Staphysagria 200C and a research based medicine.
In the first follow up the itching had reduced, but the spots were still spreading, which indicated that the disease process was still active.
In the next follow up, he reported that there were only few new mild spots, the old spots had started to heal and the itching had reduced by 75%.
In the next few follow ups the spots had started to heal as well no new spots occurred.
With the regular medication of 12 months he was completely cured of his Lichen Planus.
