Case Study
A 54-year-old lady (PIN: 46899) approached Life Force’s Jayanagar Branch on 7th December 2021 for the treatment of her complaints of Oral Lichen Planus, which she was suffering from for 2 years. Her main presenting symptoms were purplish-blue lesions on her tongue (tip, center, and sides of tongue) and inner cheeks. She was experiencing burning pain in her lesions, particularly while eating hot spicy food.
Her family history was asked about and updated. Her father was suffering from diabetes, and her sister was suffering from lichen planus.
Her history was also asked. She had an episode of Chikungunya 5 years back. Her past and current treatment history was also asked about and updated for future reference. She was under treatment comprising steroid creams which were giving her only temporary relief. All her medical reports were checked and updated for future reference. The patient was hoping for a safe and permanent solution to her complaint when she approached Life Force.
A detailed case history of the patient was taken into account by considering both her physical and mental generals.
Physical Generals
She was a non-vegetarian and had an average appetite. She had cravings, particularly for salty and sour foods (particularly pickles). She had an average thirst and drank almost 2 liters of water daily. She couldn’t bear an extremely hot climate. Her bowel movements were satisfactory and had no urinary complaints as such. She had a disturbed sleep at night.
Psychological Make-Up
Her mental symptoms were also asked. The patient had a very happy childhood with a well-supportive family. She had a satisfactory marital life. Once she was a very active and enthusiastic lady but now was feeling very dull, and depressed and also used to irritated easily in the last 1 month (menopausal symptoms) and was also showing indifference to her family members.
She was feeling very sad and disappointed that she had to leave her job because of her health issues as she loved her profession as a teacher and missed going to a job and teaching her students.Her intellectual sphere was also considered. Her memory, logic, intelligence, perception, and analysis all were good.

Follow-Ups
The patient’s first follow-up was taken on 11th February 2022. She was overall better by 20%. She had no new lesions and the burning and sensitivity of the oral cavity had also improved.

By 8th June 2022, the patient had further improvement in her condition.
By 4th August 2022, she was 40% better. All her lesions were stable but the burning sensation in her tongue persisted, particularly while having spicy food.
By 10th October 2022, the patient was overall better by 70%. Her burning sensation was also reduced considerably.
By 13th December 2022, the patient was better by almost 90%. Her lesions were stable and her burning sensation also vanished.
