Homeopathy Successfully Treats Allergic Rhinitis in a Genetically Predisposed Boy
A 13-year-old boy with a strong family history of allergies suffered from sneezing, runny nose, nose block, cough, and breathlessness due to allergic rhinitis. A 13-year-old boy (Patient ID: 52112) came to the Life Force Homeopathy Aundh branch with his mother in July 2023 with the symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis, which he had been suffering for 1 year. The allergic rhinitis was progressive, & he was taking a conventional Rx for the same. He presented with the following symptoms: sneezing 15 to 20 for 2 hours in the morning, 10 minutes at night, with runny nose alternating with nose block at night; later progressed to cough, cough with white expectoration, and sometimes complained of breathlessness on overexertion. He was strongly predisposed to allergies since it was in his genes; he had a strong family history of allergies; his mother and sister had allergic rhinitis. Also, he had a childhood history of asthma.
While taking the case history, his mother informed us that the patient’s symptoms get triggered after eating cold food & drinks. Also, after every weather change, the patient gets a cold & mild fever. Till now they had never been to the doctor, taking over-the-counter medicines by discussing with a pharmacist; this was the first time the mother chose to show a doctor.
A detailed case history was taken by considering his mental and physical generals.
Physical Generals
The patient was non-vegetarian and had an average appetite. He had no specific cravings or aversions for food. He had an average thirst and drank about 2.5 liters of water daily. He used to experience very profuse & offensive perspiration. He was ambithermal. His bowels were satisfactory, and he had no urinary complaints. His physical examination was done, and his weight was 47 kg.
Family history
His father had died due to Covid-19
Mental generals
He had a very happy childhood with a very supportive family. When asked more about his nature and emotions, his mother mentioned that he is not so friendly & takes time to mix up with other children. He does not make an effort to make friends. He is emotional, sensitive, & polite by nature. Sometimes he is impulsive and expresses anger when contraindicated; however, he then forgets immediately. He had a fear of heights, darkness, and fear of being alone. His hobbies were playing cricket & reading comic books.
His memory, perception, intelligence, analysis, and logic were all good. Dr. Shah went through his detailed case history and prescribed Calcarea-phos 30.
Follow-Ups
His symptoms did not change during the first two follow-ups, which were conducted on September 16, 2023, and November 18, 2023.The patient was improving nicely in the follow-ups that followed.
The patient improved by 20–30% by February 2024. The severity of the symptoms improved. There was a gradual decrease in sneezing, coughing with expectoration, nose block, and mouth breathing.By March 2024, sneezing, coughing, and mouth breathing had improved by 70–80%. He continued to occasionally complain of a nose block.
On March 8, 2024, a year later, he was nearly 90% better; however, he still experienced runny nose and throat irritation after consuming oily meals, but the severity of the symptoms had greatly decreased.The patient is still on Life Force treatment and is expected to fully recover by 2025. He was quite pleased with the care he received at Life Force Homeopathy.
