Miss A. C. (Patient Identification Number 10157) visited the clinic with complaints of urticaria. She was suffering with the urticaria since six months.
She would suffer from the hives everyday and they would last for 3-4 hours each time. There would be rashes on her shoulders, arms, face and buttocks. She would also suffer from eye and lips swelling termed as angioedema. There was mild to moderate itching. She was on antihistamine Allegra 180 since a month with a past history of cortisone.
She had an average appetite with a marked craving for salted food stuff. Her sleep was sound. She was unable to tolerate heat.
She was an architect by profession. Her husband was also an architect. Her job was quite stressful with erratic working hours. She reported she would develop the hives all the more when she would be tensed or with extensive traveling.
There was no family history of urticaria. Her mother had hypothyrodism and eczema. Her paternal grandfather had cancer and grandmother had diabetes.
Dr Rajesh Shah studied her case in detail. She was prescribed a research based medicine for urticaria and was advised a routine thyroid test as her mother was suffering from hypothyrodism.
First follow up
In 4 weeks she reported her urticaria was reduced by 70%. The rashes had reduced in their frequency and severity. She had only one episode of the hives in 4 weeks. It lasted for 2 hours and the severity of the rashes was considerably less. Her thyroid test had turned out to be normal. Her medicines were continued further.
Second follow up
In 4 months, her urticaria was treated by 85%. There would be one or two rashes occasionally. She was not taking any antihistamines. Dr Shah continued with the medicines for her.
Third follow up
At the end of 8 months, she reported of no episode of the urticaria. Her medicines were stopped.
After one year she visited the clinic for her friend’s treatment, when she exclaimed she was free from the hives for past one year and was extremely happy. She expressed her gratitude towards homeopathy.
