Chronic urticaria of 40 years managed with homeopathy and drug free relief
A senior hematopathologist with a 40 to 50 year history of chronic urticaria suffered daily widespread itchy hives despite long term antihistamines and immunosuppressants. At Life Force, detailed case evaluation and individualized homeopathic treatment were initiated with dietary guidance. Initial fluctuations were followed by gradual reduction in intensity duration and frequency. Over time immunosuppressants were stopped antihistamines tapered and eventually discontinued leading to long term stability minimal symptoms and improved quality of life.

We have noticed in our practice that many patients keep on taking anti-histamines and other immunosuppressive medicines for years, unable to stop even for short breaks. Homeopathy works brilliantly in most cases of Urticaria. With our treatment approach, we have successfully treated many cases of chronic Urticaria, reducing the frequency, duration, and intensity of flare-ups and observing a significant decrease in dependence on conventional medicines.
A Hematopathologist from Hinduja Hospital with a history of chronic Urticaria, which she has been dealing with for almost 40–50 years, came to see us on November 15, 2022. She had flare-ups every two to three months. After 5-6 years, her disease had relapsed, but she had some relief with conventional medicines; however, in the past year, it had gotten worse, with daily occurrences of large, extensive, widespread hives. She had intense itching, redness, swelling, and burning after scratching, and she had hives nearly everywhere on her body, lasting for 12 to 15 hours. Despite using immunosuppressive medications and an antihistamine, her condition was relapsing, and she was becoming dependent on these medications without long-term relief. She looked to Life Force Homeopathy in search of a long-term fix.
She also suffered from thyroid disorder (underactive thyroid) and hyperlipidemia, for which she was taking conventional medicines, and both conditions were stable.
A detailed case history was taken, and it was noted that her appetite was moderate, with no specific food or drink preferences. Her thirst was normal, and she had no issues with her urine or bowel movements. Her sleep was sound, restful, and refreshing without any disturbances.
The patient, who worked as a Hematopathologist at Hinduja Hospital, lived with her spouse and two children. The patient was a practicing physician who led a secure life with her family. No history of emotional strain pointed to a significant cause of stress.
Based on the case history, KALI-IOD 30, along with Dr. Shah’s research-based medicines, was prescribed for 6 weeks, after which she was advised to provide feedback.
Follow-ups:
First follow-up:
After 2 weeks of starting homeopathic treatment, she called us to discuss the worsening of her Urticaria symptoms. She was getting more hives, and this time they were more intense. She was told to wait and watch and to continue with the same medicines, but with an increased dose; she was advised to take four pills 4 times instead of 3 times. The patient was counselled that since her condition is quite chronic and challenging, she needs to be patient and wait for at least 8-10 weeks to see a good initial improvement. Also, the necessary dietary guidelines were provided.
Second follow-up:
On December 19, 2022, the patient stated that her itching had somewhat subsided. The frequency and duration of episodes were the same as before, but the intensity was a little reduced. She had started tapering the dose of immunosuppressive medicines, but had to continue with antihistamines at the same dose. There was some overall improvement after starting 6 weeks of homeopathic treatment.
Third follow-up:
On January 14, 2023, the patient stated that her complaints with the medications were improving. While the frequency of episodes remained constant, their duration and intensity decreased. She had stopped taking immunosuppressive drugs. She also began gradually altering the amount of the allergy medication. She mentioned that her body is now responding to homeopathic medicines and helping build immunity against allergens.
Fourth follow-up:
On June 3, 2023, the patient stated that she felt even better after taking the medications. The frequency, duration, and severity of episodes decreased significantly. She needed to continue taking a small amount of antihistamines because the hives continued to occur, however, not as severely as before. Based on this feedback, Dr. Shah prescribed her additional medications for further improvement.
Fifth follow-up:
On February 20, 2024, the patient stated that the medications were generally quite effective. The frequency and intensity were extremely low. She only takes the allergy medication once every three days now. There was a great recovery noticed by a patient in her Urticaria.
Final follow-up:
On 23rd October 2024, the patient reported that she was completely better now. There was no episode of Urticaria in the last 6 months. She sometimes gets mild skin itching, but there is no redness or hives. She has completely stopped allopathic medicines, and she is only on homeopathy now. The dependency on immunosuppressive and anti-histamine tablets was removed entirely after starting homeopathy.
The patient thanked Dr. Shah and the whole Life Force team for helping her and making her feel so much better. She is continuing with treatment to get a complete recovery from her disease.
