Homeopathy Provides Lasting Relief for Severe Allergic Rhinitis in Adult Female

A 38-year-old woman with chronic allergic rhinitis experienced severe sneezing, nasal blockage, and eye irritation triggered by pollen, dust, and strong scents. Conventional medicines offered limited relief. Through personalized homeopathic treatment addressing her physical, mental, and family history, she achieved 80–90% improvement, reduced dependency on medications, and regained normal breathing and comfort within months.

A 38-year-old female patient (Patient ID: 52542) approached complaining of severe sneezing, persistent nasal discharge (occasionally acrid discharge), and lachrymation with eye irritation and dryness. Both nostrils were blocked, causing mouth breathing from the obstruction, and throat irritation was also present. She was predominantly allergic to pollen, especially in October. She was also allergic to dust, strong scents, and food changes. Occasionally, exposure to an air conditioner made her symptoms worse. She had been diagnosed with allergic rhinitis for the past five years, and it had been becoming worse during the past two months when she saw us. She was taking Tablet Allegra 120mg once daily for the past week, formerly 6-7 times each month.

She had been taking Tab Thyronorm 25 mcg once a day for the past nine years due to an underactive thyroid.

Physical Generals

She was eating various meals, but she had a particular craving for spicy, salty foods like pani puri and dosa. In addition, the patient disliked bitter gourd and fish. The patient had an average thirst of three liters daily and was ambithermal. She had no bowel movement or micturition issues. At the age of 13, she got her first menses. She experienced mood swings, backaches, and dysmenorrhea during her menstrual cycle, which lasted for three days.

She worked for an NGO, and her husband was an architect who owned his own company. The mother-in-law was a housewife, while the father-in-law was retired from business.

Personal History
Mental Symptoms

She had a good, stable life since she was a child, although things were a little stressful today. She was an introvert who kept things to herself and was emotional, impulsive, and occasionally anxious.

Family History

Her father also had allergic rhinitis and had diabetes and hypertension. Mother had diabetes, too. Her sister''s thyroid was also underactive.

Dr. Rajesh Shah gave medicines based on all of the symptoms that the patient was experiencing.

Follow-ups

She was substantially better at the first follow-up on October 21, 2023, with only one significant incident of sneezing and nasal discharge from October 11 to October 15. Her medicine intake was decreased, and she only took Allegra once in the previous four to five weeks.

She was 50% better at the following checkup on January 18, 2024, and had only one episode of fever and cold lasting one to two days. The intensity and frequency of the episodes had significantly decreased, and she had not taken any medication other than Dolo during the illness.

Following a follow-up on April 26, 2024, she reported no significant cold symptoms, just minor sneezing and nasal discharge the previous month, and no use of conventional medication was mentioned. She quit the treatment since she was considerably better.

She resumed treatment on December 5; she had been experiencing sneezing and nasal discharge for the past month, which got worse in the morning, but she had not taken any traditional medications.

Her final checkup was on February 28, 2025, and she was 80–90% better overall, with much less sneezing, no complaints of watery nasal discharge, no cough, and no mouth breathing.

Conclusion

This case shows that in homeopathy, treatment for allergic rhinitis is highly individualized, focusing on the person''s overall health, lifestyle, and maintaining cause in addition to physical symptoms. The goal is to stimulate the body''s vital force to restore balance and reduce allergic reactions.
