Mr. P.P. has been suffering from Urticaria for the last 2.5 months; he would develop hives all over his body. The hives were itchy and caused a severe burning sensation. His skin rash would also be associated with swelling of the lips and eyes. He mentioned getting hives in hot weather and when he got sweaty. The burning sensation was less intense in cold weather and with a fan.
His appetite was average, and he liked spicy food and sweets. He would have excessive sweating all over. Thermally, he was a hot patient and could not tolerate heat. Extreme heat would also trigger his urticaria. His urine and bowel habits were regular. His sleep was sound.
He was started on an antihistamine and an anti-allergenic treatment without much relief.
He worked in the IT sector, and his wife worked in the insurance sector. His father was retired, and his mother was a housewife. His case was taken in detail.
He was undergoing some financial stresses. There were problems in his company and the employees were also affected due to the change in the company policy. He had started working from home. First follow-up:
At a 2.5-month follow-up on 2 January 2012, Mr. P.P. reported a slight improvement in his allergies and urticaria. The intensity and the frequency of the rashes have reduced. but he was continuing with the antihistamine medications.
Second follow-up:
At the 3-month follow-up on 20 Feb 2012, Mr. P.P. reported good improvement in his urticaria and allergy. His skin rashes had reduced, and the itching and burning were less. His cold and the allergies were also reducing. He tried to taper off the antihistamine without much increase in his allergies.
Third follow-up:
At 5-month follow-up on 5 May 2012, Mr. P.P. reported a slight increase in his Urticaria; he identified heat as a cause. His need for the Antihistamine increased again; he was taking it almost daily. The medicines were altered and prescribed by Dr. Shah.
Fourth follow-up:
At the 7-month follow-up on 13 July 2012, Mr. P.P. reported good improvement. In his skin rashes, her lips were reduced, and his allergies were less. His need for an antihistamine had also diminished.
Final follow-up:
At 9-month follow-up on 19 September 2012, Mr. P.P. reported good relief from urticaria; episodes were very occasional. He has stopped taking antihistamines completely.
