A 32-year-old male, Mr. V.S.A. (PIN: 17734) visited Life Force on 13th December 2011 with a complaint of urticaria. The patient was suffering from urticaria for three years. The frequency of his episode was sometimes daily, but, at times, it used to affect him once in a week, and the duration of the episode was most often 8-10 hours. At the time of the episode, he used to develop a swelling on the face, lips, and hands. Mild rashes were observed on his whole body. His rashes were itchy. He was taking Ayurvedic medicine. In past, he had taken the steroid treatment. Besides this, he was also suffering from tonsillitis and constipation.
The patient was a vegetarian by diet. He had no specific liking and disliking of any food. His appetite, thirst, and perspiration were average. His sleep was sound. There was no specific dream. He was a hot patient. His bowel movement was not satisfactory. His motion was hard.
He was a software engineer working in TCS. His father was a retired person from a sales job. His mother was a homemaker, and his brother was a student. There was no specific disease history present in his family. He had appendicitis in his past, for which he had undergone appendicectomy.
He was reserved in nature. He was happy with his life, and he never took tension.
After studying his detailed case history, he was prescribed Nux-Vomica 30 and research-based molecule for his urticaria complaint.
First follow up
After two months of the medication on 1st March 2012, the patient visited at the center for his follow-up. He informed that after starting the medicine, initially, his complaint had aggravated for some time, but now it was better from one month. His swelling on face and lips had reduced by more than 50%. His relief from tonsillitis and constipation were also improved.
Second follow up
A few months later, on 1st August 2012, he had got a 70% improvement in his relief from the complaint. He informed that the frequency of his urticaria episode was 6-7 times in a month. Previously, his frequency was either daily or once/week. The severity and duration of the episode had reduced. His other complaints were also showing improvement in terms of relief.
Third follow up
On 20th November 2012, when he gave his feedback, he reported 85% improvement in his relief from the complaint. His itching and burning had also reduced a lot. His relief from constipation and tonsillitis was improved. Due to a good recovery, he stopped the treatment.
Fourth follow up
On 10th January 2019, he visited at Life Force center. He informed that he didn’t face any episode after 2012. But, due to traveling, his urticaria had relapsed for 2 days. His symptoms were the same as earlier. And, his frequency of episode was 4-5 times in a day. Dermatographism was positive in his case. As per his condition, Dr. Shah prescribed the medicine to the patient.
He is continuing our medicine for further recovery.
Conclusion:
This case illustrates that homeopathy is highly effective in treating urticaria. It is helpful to reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of the urticarial episode without any side-effect.
