A Zambian Patient With Meniere Disease Treated Successfully With Homeopathy.
A 46-year-old male patient from Zambia, Mr. S. A. (LFMPL PIN: 21669) enquired about his Meniere’s disease complaint.
He had the feeling of fullness in the left ear accompanied by hissing-like sounds. The sounds were not very sharp but existed. Sometimes, a very low-pitched tinnitus was also felt. Gradually, he started sensing distortions in hearing in his left ear. An audiogram was done which confirmed that he had a slight percentage of hearing loss in the left ear. He had a history of chronic sinus problems since childhood along with regular sneezes, particularly in the mornings, and a runny nose very often. The episodes of Vertigo/spinning of the head and feeling of fullness in the left ear accompanied by imbalance, sweating, and nausea bothered him. On 7th July 2011, he got his first attack of the condition. Initially i.e. in 2011, these attacks were recurring for a month or so, but gradually the frequency increased and these attacks became quite frequent i.e. bothering him sometimes once or even twice a day sometimes once in two days, and so on.
He consulted ENT specialists in Mumbai in 2011 who advised him to do an MRI, which he did, and it came out to be normal. He was given medicines Vertin and Stugeron that helped him temporarily. When the attacks relapsed, he went to a neurologist who again started giving him Stugeron along with Ginkgo Biloba. First, he was advised to take 6 tablets of Stugeron per day which gradually decreased to 1 tablet per day. For some time, the symptoms subsided to a great extent and he thought the disease was cured. However, since January 2013, the frequency of attacks increased and he was again put on 6 Stugerons per day. When even after taking those 6 tabs per day, he was having attacks. So, he desperately looked for alternatives, and, also, he was scared of the adverse side effect of the tablet Stugeron which he had been taking vigorously for one and a half years. This is when he came across our website and communicated to the Life Force team.
He was taking Tablet Stugeron (Cinnarizine 25 mg) two tablets 3 times daily for more than a year. Sometimes, depending on the severity of episodes 2,3,4, or 5 tablets daily.
Psychological Make-Up:
He was anxious and his anxiety was getting worse because of the unpredictable episodes of spinning his head. He was unable to go for long drives and felt vulnerable about taking his family for a drive or even to a mall. He was insecure about his job because of his complaints. He started thinking of his health problem as a threat to his profession and job.
Self and Family’s Medical History:
In the past, he suffered from eczema and recurrent cold and cough.
About his family’s medical history, his paternal uncle and mother suffered from Diabetes.
At Life Force:
Based on his case details he was prescribed China Officinalis 30 daily 4 pills 3 times for 4 months on 22nd March 2013.
Follow-Ups:
In July 2013, he updated his feedback, and, after 1 month of starting the Homeopathic treatment, he stopped his Tablet Stugeron, and he could manage his Meniere’s disease symptoms with Homeopathy alone. He had no major attacks, and, occasionally, he had mild episodes of dizziness which were short-lived. He was better by around 80%.
Based on his feedback, the next course of medicines was sent.
In November 2013, the patient informed us that he didn't have any major episodes of vertigo, nausea, or tinnitus for almost 7 months. He had completely stopped his Tablet. Stugeron for 9 months.
