Stress-Triggered Chronic Lichen Planus Fully Managed Successfully with Homeopathy
A 65-year-old woman suffering from chronic lichen planus for over 12 years, worsened by stress, found relief through individualized homeopathic treatment at Life Force. Despite extensive prior steroid and allopathic use, her lesions, itching, and mouth burning were controlled. A 65-year-old female, Mrs. M.P (Patient ID: 48730), visited our Life Force clinic at Kemp’s Corner on 25th July 2022, for the complaint of Lichen Planus.She has been suffering for more than 12 years with this illness. She had taken a lot of steroids and allopathic medicines but nothing has helped her much. It used to get better for a few days but again after some days, it reoccurred. There were lesions of lichen planus all over her body. Her mouth was also affected by it.
It has been spreading rapidly for the past few months. There was extreme itching on her skin. Itching may sometimes lead to bleeding. There was burning in the mouth and the patient was not able to eat properly because of it. On further history, it was found that the patient started developing lichen planus after the husband was diagnosed with Dementia. She had a lot of stress related to her husband’s illness.
The patient''s appetite was average.
She loved eating sweets. There was no specific dislike of eating. Her thirst for water was sufficient. There were no issues with urine and stool. Sleep was sound and refreshing.The patient was a teacher by profession. Her husband had business. She had two sons and one daughter. She was very extrovert and talkative by nature. She was stressed about her husband’s illness. She had a fear of the future and a fear of aging. She used to love music and she was teaching vocal music also.
There was no major illness noticed in the past with the patient or any illnesses with the family.After studying the case in detail, Dr.Shah prescribed her some research-based homeopathic medicines along with some dietary advice.
On 29th August 2022, in the first follow-up patient reported that her lesions were more spreading than before and itching was also increased. The burning in the mouth was also more. The case was reviewed again by Dr.Shah and revised medicines were given to the patient.
On 30th September 2022, the patient reported that she was much better with the medicines now. The spread of the disease was under control. The new eruptions have stopped appearing on the body. The itching was reduced. The burning in the mouth was also less. The patient was able to eat normal food. Patients were very happy with the recovery. She had stopped all medicines and she was only on Homeopathy now.
On 28th February 2023, the patient reported that she was further improving with the medicines. All the active lesions were reduced. The spread was completely under control. There were no new eruptions in the last 6 months. There was no itching on the skin. Mouth burning has also subsided. Only hyper-pigmented marks were present on the skin now. The disease was completely under control with the medicines.
On 219th August 2023, the patient updated that she was completely fine. There were no active lesions on the skin. The itching had completely subsided. Hyper-pigmented marks were still present but it has gradually faded. Disease was completely under control and there was no further spread of disease. There was overall recovery with the medicines.
