Six Months of Sciatica Pain Ends with Homeopathic Care

Sciatica is a condition characterized by pain radiating along the sciatic nerve, typically affecting one side of the lower body. It often results from compression or irritation of spinal nerves. In homeopathy, treatment focuses on addressing the root cause and individual symptoms.

Case Study:

A 43-year-old male patient, Mr. R.K.V. (Patient ID: 42741), visited the Malleswaram Branch of the Life Force clinic on 22nd Feb 2020 to get treated for his sciatica, from which he had been suffering for 6 months. His pain would start from the left lower back and radiate to the hip and back of the thigh and extend up to the left toes. He was experiencing a burning sensation. The pain was almost every day. There was difficulty in walking, and prolonged sitting could also increase his pain.

He had been suffering from diabetes for 5 months and was controlling it with diet.

During the initial consultation, a comprehensive case history was taken, focusing on physical and mental state.

Physical generals:

His appetite was normal with a mixed diet, he had a craving for sweets, and his urine and bowel habits were satisfactory. His sleep was sound. He had alcohol and smoking addictions. He used to smoke 3-4 cigarettes a day and drink alcohol weekly once.

Family History and Background:

He was working as a project manager in a reputed IT company. His father was in the army, and his mother was a housewife.

Both parents were diabetic. Mother has asthma and heart-related ailments.

The patient had suffered from measles in childhood, jaundice 5 years back, and tubercular meningitis at 27 years old.

The patient was operated on for appendectomy 5 years ago.

Mental State:

The patient is emotionally attached to their mother and experiences stress and tension related to work. He feels frustrated with his spouse and is facing relationship issues.

After studying her detailed case history, she was prescribed homeopathic medicine, Kali carb, by Dr. Shah.

Follow-ups:

In his first follow-up on 15th April 2020, there was an 80% improvement in the first follow-up itself. There is occasional pain in the legs in sleep, there is no numbness, and the patient is happy with the first follow-up itself.

On 20th June 2020, the condition is stable, with very occasional pain. He was much better.

On 12th August 2020, further improvement was seen. The patient expressed that he was 90% better in all his complaints.
