Regrowing Hope: How Homeopathy Helped Me Beat Alopecia
Alopecia areata is a common autoimmune disorder characterized by patchy hair loss on the scalp, face, or body. Fortunately, homeopathy offers a holistic treatment approach that promotes hair regrowth and alleviates symptoms.
The causes of alopecia areata are complex and multifaceted, involving a combination of genetic, autoimmune, and environmental factors. The risk factors include genetics, with a family history of the condition increasing the likelihood of development. Individuals with autoimmune disorders such as thyroid disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis are more prone to developing alopecia areata. Physical or emotional stress can also trigger the condition in some individuals. Hormonal imbalances, particularly in women, can contribute to alopecia areata.
Homeopathic treatment for alopecia areata has several benefits. It addresses the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of the condition, providing a comprehensive solution.
CASE STUDY
A 21-year-old woman (Patient ID: 41157) came to Life Force Homeopathy Malleswaram branch of Bangalore on 18th September 2019 for her alopecia areata treatment.
She had a history of steroidal treatment for her bald patches for 4 months, after which she had developed multiple patches, around 7-8 patches on her scalp, which were non-scarring in nature and were spreading rapidly.
Along with alopecia, she also was undertaking thyroid supplements for hypothyroidism.
During the initial consultation, a comprehensive case history was taken, focusing on physical and mental state.
Physical Generals:
The patient had a mixed diet. Her appetite was average. She craved spicy. She was hydrating well. Her bowels were regular, and she had a sound sleep pattern. She never used to perspire; her menses were regular.
Family History and Background:
She was studying B.Sc. in technology; her father was a businessman, and her mother was a housewife.
Her mother was diabetic, and her father was hypertensive.
MENTAL GENERALS:
The patient was well supported by parents; she doesn’t express her feelings, weeps easily, doesn’t mingle with everyone, hardly has 1-2 friends, and has stage fear and sea fear.
After studying her detailed case history, she was prescribed constitutional medicine Phosphorus by Dr. Shah.
Follow-ups:
After 2 months of medication On 11.11.2019, on the first follow-up itself, she was overall 10% better; two new patches were seen around the occipital region since 3 weeks, however, the rapid spread which was there earlier had slowed down.
On 31.12.2019, again the follow-up was taken; there were no new patches. Old patches were almost the same. Hair growth was seen in a few patches.
On 6.4.20220 she had overall 25% better hair growth in all old patches, but 1 new patch appeared.
On 18.6.2020, further, she was better; there was a reduction in hair fall.
She discontinued the treatment and wanted to take a break. Although it wasn’t suggested. But since her condition again got worse, she restarted homeopathic treatment.
On 6.1.2022 She was 90% better with medicines; there had been a relapse of the condition for 2-3 months; moderate-sized 3 spots were seen on the scalp; there was hair fall due to discontinuity of medicines.
On 10.3.2022 There was improvement seen in hair regrowth. No new patches were seen.
On 10.5.2022, there were no new spots; she was overall better.
On 22.12.2022, new hair growth was seen in patches.
Every 2 months, regular follow-ups were taken with improvement status.
On 15.10.2023, all patches were recovered with new hair; no bald spots were seen.
On 6.2.2024, we inquired about alopecia. The patient never had any relapse of bald spots and was completely satisfied with the treatment.
She thanked Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force for her treatment.
CONCLUSION:
This instance suggests that homeopathy may be effective in treating alopecia, even in cases with a history of steroid use. Early intervention appears to have yielded significant long-term benefits in this particular case.
