How a Balanced Diet Along With Homeopathy Helped IBS Symptoms Settle

A 30-year-old male registered for treatment at Life Force Homeopathy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) (Patient ID: 40922)  on 8th June 2024. He presented with symptoms of bloating in the abdomen lasting throughout the day (mild to moderate in intensity), along with loose motions and an ineffective desire to pass stools. He also reported occasional acidity and gastritis, especially after late-night dinners. The frequency of loose motions was about 4–5 times per day, mainly in the morning. Bloating was more prominent at night, especially after heavy or late-night meals. The stool consistency ranged from semi-solid to watery, often accompanied by abdominal rumbling. Acidity was present around three times a week, with pain in the epigastrium, particularly after heavy meals or dinner. He had no symptoms of fever, constipation, or weakness. He had taken Ayurvedic medications for 2–3 months initially but did not experience much relief. Since September 2023, he has not taken any medications.

The patient had an average appetite, with an an intake of 2-2.5 liters of water of water, and usually prefers homemade food. His sleep was refreshing with no complaints regarding urination. He had no significant past medical history related to gastrointestinal disorders.

Investigations:

Basic investigations were conducted in January and May 2025. Reports from May 2025 indicated low levels of Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D, for which supplements were prescribed.

After a detailed case analysis by Dr. Rajesh Shah, individualized homeopathic medicines were prescribed. Relevant investigations were advised, and dietary guidelines were discussed and shared with the patient.

Follow-ups:

In his first follow-up on 27th Jul 2024, he reported overall relief. Symptoms such as bloating, acidity, and gastritis had reduced. The ineffectual desire to pass stools was still present but had slightly improved.

By 21st September 2024, he was keeping stable; a mild improvement in acidity was seen, but bloating does get triggered only after outside food. He was advised to start the proper diet.

By the third follow-up, by 1st May 2025, frequent stools with altered consistency have improved. There was no abdominal pain for 2 months. Acidity was better, and bloating was better, but flatulence was the same as it is.

By 8/3/25, as compared to the last follow-up, the consistency of stool was improved, no abdominal pain was present, acidity was also better, and symptoms of flatulence and bloating were better as compared to the last follow-up.

In his last follow-up by 10/5/25, overall, the stool consistency had normalized, and no severity of symptoms was reported. Acidity and flatulence were under control.

Conclusion:

This case demonstrates the efficacy of homeopathic treatment in the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The treatment not only improved the patient’s gastrointestinal symptoms but also helped reduce the need for allopathic medicines.
