"Homeopathy Transforms Sinusitis Suffering into Relief"

Mrs. PS, age 43 years (Patient ID: 53283) visited our Borivali clinic along with her husband for the treatment of her sinusitis. The complaints started in 2019 as allergic rhinitis. On exposure to dust or cold, she used to get irritation in the nose with episodes of sneezing, runny nose, watering from the eyes, burning in the eyes, and nose block on the alternate sides. By 2023, her condition progressed to sinusitis, with symptoms including heaviness of the head, tenderness, pain in the facial bones, temples, and forehead, and bouts of dry cough on exposure to dust or lying down. The complaints have been persistent since 2023.

Besides sinusitis, she was also getting complaints of breathlessness on climbing the stairs and easy fatigue. She was allergic to dust, cold temperatures, and cold food. Her complaints increased whenever she was exposed to these 3 conditions.

During a detailed case-taking, she revealed that she was vegetarian and a foodie. She loved to eat the chatpata food and had a dislike for sweets and tea. She used to sweat on her forehead. She could not tolerate extreme temperatures. She had issues with unrefreshed sleep, despite sleeping for longer hours. She used to dream of sitting in a red-colored flying car.

Her menses were regular since puberty with moderate flow. She had 3 deliveries, all of which were Caesserian sections due to a breach of presentation. All three of her children were schooling. Her husband was a businessman.

The patient hails from Jaunpur and relocated to Mumbai after her marriage.

The patient was a homemaker. Personality-wise, she was quiet and would not express her anger. She mostly lost her temper with her kids if they did not study. She did not like people giving her orders. Was reserved by nature and would not initiate a conversation by herself, but once she opened up, would develop a good friendship. Watching TV and sleeping were her favorite pastimes.

In the past, she had complaints of insomnia, urticaria, underactive thyroid, and recurrent urinary tract infection, been treated with conventional medicines, and recovered.

On examining the patient, our associate doctor found that she had a deviated nasal septum to the left with bilateral turbinates hypertrophy. There was tenderness on the bones around the eyes, nose, and forehead.

Dr Shah studied the case in detail, analyzed it, and prescribed a homeopathic medicine based on the picture of the disease.

Follow-ups:

The patient reported feeling significantly better at the initial follow-up on 21st February 2024. When taking the medications, she was nearly asymptomatic. Only began to experience symptoms after missing a dose of medicine or after being around dust. Coughing would happen after taking a head bath. She even stated that, unlike before, she was able to eat the items that had been taken out of the refrigerator without having experienced any symptoms.

After six months of treatment, feedback

By 1st June 2024, she mentioned not having a major episode after exposure to cold and dust. The patient had visited her native place, which is quite a cold place, and also ate a lot of ice cream, but all she had was mucus irritation in her throat, which went away in two hours. 

The patient also reported having heel pain. After the case was evaluated once more, calcium supplements and a diet high in calcium were recommended.

After nine months of treatment and feedback, by 21st November 2024, although the patient was much better, a relapse occurred during the last 15 days as a result of the weather change. However, it was not as intense as it had been. Due to the complaints'' seasonal recurrence, Dr. Shah modified the prescription.

Complete improvement was noted in the subsequent follow-up, which was conducted on December 21, 2024. It was suggested that she stay on treatment for four more months until the winter ended. But since she felt so much better, she decided to take a break from treatment.
