Chronic Allergic Sinusitis Treated Effectively with Homeopathy in a 34-Year-Old Woman
A 34-year-old (Patient ID: 55594) consulted at the Life Force Malleswaram branch on 13th Sep 2024 for treatment of sinusitis. The patient had been suffering from this condition for a year; presenting symptoms were throat irritation, heaviness of head, facial muscle pain, severe nasal block, loss of appetite, watering of eyes, and productive cough. Episodes occurred approximately once every two months. She was very sensitive to cold and dust. Symptoms were aggravated by cold weather, fasting, dust, and emotional triggers.
The serum IgE test revealed elevated levels at 274 IU/mL, indicating an allergic cause for her condition. She had taken antibiotics and antihistamines for two days prior to the consultation, but she didn''t find any relief.
During the initial consultation, a comprehensive case history was taken, focusing on both the physical and mental state of the patient.
Physical generals:
She followed a mixed diet and had an average appetite. Her bowel movements were normal, but sleep was disturbed due to her complaints. Thirst and perspiration were normal. She had irregular and scanty menses and was actively trying to conceive. Her weight was 57.1 kg at the time of consultation.
On physical examination, tenderness and facial swelling were observed on the left side of the face and cheek.
Family History and Background:
She worked as a government typist in court. She was married, and her husband worked as an accountant. Her father had passed away due to tuberculosis and gangrene. Her mother is living with osteoarthritis and diabetes.
There was no significant past medical or surgical history noted.
Mental generals:
The patient appeared to be a mild-natured individual; she had considerable stress at work.
On observation, it was found that she had difficulty expressing her emotions and felt her husband was strict and emotionally distant. She lived alone in Coorg, while her husband stayed in Bangalore due to occupational reasons.
She felt neglected and emotionally unsupported in the marriage.
She was also grieving the loss of her father and often became emotional when remembering him.
After a detailed analysis of her physical, emotional, and mental state, she was prescribed the homeopathic remedy Silicea 30, based on the totality of symptoms.
Follow-ups:
After taking medication for two months, she came for the first follow-up on 15.12.2024: she reported significant improvement, particularly in throat irritation and head heaviness, which had reduced considerably. Nasal block occurred only occasionally, and coughing had also decreased. Appetite was better, and the overall condition had improved. She had stopped taking any conventional medication.
The second follow-up was taken on 5.3.2025: The patient continued to feel overall better, with complete resolution of headaches and nasal block. As summer approached, no symptoms were present, and the patient remained off medication. No episodes had occurred since October.
Follow-up continued until 20th August 2025, with no recurrence of symptoms.
The patient reported continued improvement, with no new episodes. Occasional sneezing persisted, but there were no symptoms of nasal block, lachrymation, or headaches. The patient remained off medication and had not experienced any episodes since last October.
The patient and her husband expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Shah and the entire Life Force team for their successful treatment.
Conclusion:
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of individualized homeopathic treatment in managing chronic allergic sinusitis. The patient, who previously experienced recurring episodes every two months, showed marked and sustained improvement after starting homeopathy. Over several months, major symptoms—such as nasal blockage, facial pain, and throat irritation—were significantly reduced. She was able to stop all conventional medications and remained episode-free for nearly a year.
This case highlights the holistic scope of homeopathy in addressing both the underlying allergic tendency and the individual susceptibility in chronic sinusitis.
