Amazing recovery from severe Psoriasis in a Diabetic patient
A 43-year-old male (Patient ID: 46371) visited Mulund clinic on the 25th of September 2021 enquiring about homeopathic treatment for his skin complaints. During consultation and examination, the patient was diagnosed as having psoriasis. The lesions started a year back and were initially very mild, affecting ears only. But, after taking the Covid vaccine in June 2021, the lesions started spreading rapidly all over the body. On examination, there were multiple red lesions with scaling all over the body, from head to toe. The patient suffered severe, uncontrollable itching and burning pain. During the past ten months, he had been using conventional treatment, which included corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, antihistamines, antibiotics, and various similar emollients, but the spread had never stopped, and his condition was worsening further. Finally, he stopped all medications for a week and approached Life Force with hopes of getting some relief.
Personal and family setup:
The patient was a civil engineer by profession and worked for a well-known establishment, where there was daily stress and strain due to changes in shift timings at work. He had become very anxious and self-conscious about his psoriasis condition, which was affecting his work as well as his social life.
He was happily married and lived with his parents, spouse, and two kids. The patient was closely attached to his family. Due to his skin condition, he avoided meeting people at the workplace as well as his relatives and friends. He used to wear clothes that covered his entire body whenever he was outside. With increasing new lesions, he was losing his confidence gradually and wondered if he would ever regain his old life again.
Associated illness:
Apart from psoriasis, the patient has been on conventional medication for diabetes mellitus for the past five years. The patient was irregular in monitoring his blood sugar levels, for which he was counselled and advised to do so.
Past illnesses:
The patient had suffered from typhoid in childhood and had recovered with conventional treatment. The patient mentioned taking the Covid vaccine in June 2021, after which psoriasis started rapidly spreading to his entire body.
Family illnesses:
The patient mentioned that his paternal uncle also had psoriasis.
At Life Force:
Based on his detailed history, Dr Shah prescribed homeopathic medicines
for eight weeks. He was advised of blood investigations, and a diet chart for psoriasis was given and explained in detail. He also suggested local applications to use for the lesions, and some tips were given to reduce the itching.
Follow ups:
At the first follow-up on the 29th of Oct 2021, the patient mentioned a few lesions were reduced while some were persisting. Also, a few tiny new lesions had come up on his legs. He was already explained about the possibility of lesions arising when he had stopped steroidal medications. He was assured that they would subside gradually. Meanwhile, he was also prescribed a supplement for vitamin D3, as there was a deficiency noted in his reports. His blood sugar levels were borderline elevated, for which he was accordingly guided. Based on his follow-up, Dr. Shah prescribed homeopathic medications for another six weeks.
On the 15th of Dec 2021, the patient stated a 50% improvement in the lesions of the back, chest, abdomen, hands, shoulder, and face. Lesions in other areas were stable. The itching was negligible. The burning pain was reduced to 60 to 70%. According to his follow-up, he was again prescribed by Dr. Shah for another six weeks.
Further follow-up on the 29th of Jan 2022 showed further improvement on most of the lesions; a few on the hands were still active, and scaling was also seen on a few lesions with dryness and itching due to ongoing cold weather. He was prescribed accordingly by Dr. Shah for another six weeks. He was also advised to monitor his blood sugar levels regularly, as consistently high levels need to be treated, which also affects the healing of the lesions.
At the next follow-up on the 10th of March 2022, all the lesions had reduced redness, and scaling had decreased by 50%, with only mild itching, especially when sweating. He was prescribed accordingly by Dr. Shah for another six weeks.
The patient also mentioned he had changed his work shift time to the day shift, which had reduced his stress and strain.
For a further four to six months, the patient had 70% improvement and was stable. He was regular with our medicines and followed all instructions as had been advised to him. He also completed the entire course of supplements as had been advised earlier.
The patient had regained his confidence, visited his native place, and shared his happiness and contentment after visiting his relatives.
On his last visit on 30th Sept 2022, he recovered by 80 to 90% and expressed his relief and happiness again. He had started meeting relatives and friends and had stopped feeling conscious as he used to be earlier.
Conclusions:
Such a severe and extensive case that showed no response to the conventional corticosteroids and immunosuppressants and emollients came to us when the disease was progressing and difficult to treat. Under the expertise of Dr. Shah, the patient had recovered fully and is in remission till today.
