A 30-year-old male from Pune, Mr. O.P. (PIN: 39171) started treatment from Life Force Homeopathy for his complaint of an underactive thyroid on 21st August 2019.
The patient visited Life Force for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). He started treatment for it in January 2019. On doing a routine blood test, he got TSH levels on the higher side and was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. He had the complaint of weight gain for a long time. He was unable to reduce weight. The patient was experiencing laziness and weakness in the past few months. He was experiencing pain in his joints. His sleep was not refreshing. The patient had started with thyroid supplements, but he took them only for 1 month, and then he stopped having them. He wanted to shift to homeopathic medicines, so he started treatment with Life Force along with IBS treatment.
Physical Generals:
The patient had an average appetite. He loved eating spicy and sour food and didn’t have aversion to any food. His thirst for water was normal. He had no issues related to the urine and stool. His sleep was unrefreshing.
Psychological and Family Make-Up:
The patient was an accountant by profession. He was unmarried and was staying with his parents. By nature, he was very shy and reserved. He often used to suffer from stress-related to his health problem.
Personal and Family’s Medical History:
There were no major illnesses in the medical history of the patient. His mother was suffering from diabetes mellitus, and his father had hypertension.
At Life Force:
After studying the case in detail, Dr. Shah prescribed Nat Mur 30 and some research-based homeopathic medicines to the patient.
Follow-Ups:
On 30th May 2020, the patient’s parents updated us that he was stable with the medicines. The symptoms were gradually reducing. His weight had started reducing gradually. His sleep was improving. On repeating the thyroid profile, the patient’s TSH levels were still on the higher side. Based on this feedback, Dr. Shah revised medicines and prescribed them to the patient. He was also advised certain diet restrictions to follow along with medicines.
On 14th June 2021, the patient reported that there was an overall improvement with homeopathic medicines. The symptoms of hypothyroidism had reduced to a great extent. His weight was reduced, and his sleep had almost become normal. The pain in his joints had subsided. On repeating thyroid profile, TSH level was within normal limits. The patient was very happy with the progress. He was not taking any other medicines and was only on homeopathy.
On 2nd May 2022, the patient’s parents reported that TSH was within normal limit whenever he checked them in the past 1 year. All his symptoms of hypothyroidism have subsided now. He had no complaints related to his thyroid disorder.

Conclusion:
This case highlights that homeopathy can treat an underactive thyroid successfully and safely without any side effects.
