Encouraging Results in Genetic Prurigo Nodularis With Homeopathic Care

Case Summary: Prurigo Nodularis Treated with Homeopathy Mrs. U.K., a 65-year-old homemaker from Rajasthan (Patient ID: 55006), contacted the Life Force Homeopathy Chembur branch on 12th July 2024 seeking treatment for a chronic skin condition she had been suffering from for nearly one year. She came across Life Force and Dr. Shah while browsing the internet. She was diagnosed with Prurigo nodularis, a chronic autoimmune skin disorder characterized by intensely itchy, firm, raised nodules, symmetrically distributed over the dorsum of the hands, forearms, legs, upper back, and abdomen. The condition was aggravated by chronic scratching, stress, and summer heat. Prior to approaching Life Force, she had taken conventional treatment for about a month, including Flucanol cream and Tab. Zempred 8 mg (steroid). However, there was no significant relief. Concerned about the long-term adverse effects of steroids, she discontinued them and sought a safe, long-term treatment approach. The intense itching, pain, and eruptions severely affected her daily activities and household responsibilities, causing emotional distress and agitation. Over the last 1–2 months before consultation, the lesions had started spreading, with new eruptions appearing. The itching was worse at night and early morning. Some lesions discharged a sticky fluid or blood and healed with hyperpigmentation. Physical Generals: Vegetarian diet Strong craving for sweets; aversion to spicy food Average thirst Profuse generalized perspiration Sound sleep No other major systemic illness She had a significant family history of Prurigo nodularis, as her father and sister were also affected, indicating a genetic predisposition. After detailed case evaluation, lifestyle modification advice, and stress-management counseling, Dr. Shah prescribed Psorinum 200, explaining the scope, expectations, and long-term approach of homeopathic treatment. Follow-up Progress: 10 September 2024: Initial aggravation observed with new lesions on the foot, neck, and chest; increased itching, pain, and sticky/bloody discharge. 24 November 2024: Marked improvement noted. Old lesions started healing; only occasional new eruptions; itching and discomfort significantly reduced. 25 January 2025: Approximately 70–80% improvement. No new eruptions; old lesions healed; itching and discomfort absent. 25 March 2025: Complete recovery achieved. The patient was symptom-free, with no eruptions, and expressed happiness and gratitude. She continues on maintenance treatment to strengthen recovery and prevent relapse. Conclusion: This case demonstrates that in chronic autoimmune skin conditions like Prurigo nodularis, individualized homeopathic treatment can help achieve significant and sustained relief. Homeopathy not only addressed the skin manifestations but also improved the patient’s overall quality of life, emotional well-being, and confidence by preventing relapses and reducing stress. Such outcomes highlight the role of homeopathy as a safe and effective long-term treatment option in difficult dermatological conditions.

Case Study

Mrs. UK, age 65, (Patient ID: 55006), called the Life Force Homeopathy Chembur branch from Rajasthan on 12th July 2024 to discuss the treatment of her skin complaint, from which she had been suffering for around a year. She had come across Life Force and Dr. Shah while browsing the internet.

She had been suffering from a disease named Prurigo nodularis, a chronic autoimmune skin condition characterized by intensely itchy, firm, raised bumps (nodules) that were often symmetrically distributed on the arms, legs, upper back, and abdomen, resulting from chronic scratching and rubbing.

For a month, she had taken steroidal treatment, but it had been ineffective. She had been taking Flucanol cream (an antifungal) and T. Zempred 8mg (a steroid). Her issues were not getting better, though, and after reading about the negative effects of long-term steroid use, she became afraid and stopped using them. She wanted to begin a long-term, safe treatment, so she reached us.

She is a homemaker who had been impacted by the illness, as the discomfort and itching from eruptions prevented her from performing her responsibilities at home. On the dorsum of her hands, legs, and forearms, she experienced numerous elevated eruptions accompanied by intense itching. Previously, the lesions had been stable, but for the past one to two months, new lesions had been observed, and the lesions had been spreading. Her lesions itched more at night and in the morning after getting out of bed, and they had gotten worse during the summer and when she was under stress. Blisters would leave behind hyperpigmented markings after healing and discharge a sticky substance.

Physical generals:

She had been a vegetarian person who loved sweets and disliked spicy food, with an average thirst for water and generalized profuse sweating, with sound sleep and no other ailments.

Her husband managed a dairy and farm, while she stayed at home. Her early years had been content and well-supported. She had been a person who had devoted her life to caring for her family, her husband, and her children, and she had been really upset and agitated when she was unable to do so because of her skin complaints.

Her father and sister had also had Prurigo nodularis; therefore, she had a significant family history of the condition.

Following the case history, she was advised to modify her lifestyle and learn stress-reduction strategies.

Following a thorough review of her condition, Dr. Shah prescribed PSORINUM 200 and described the scope of homeopathy as well as the approach and treatment plan.

Follow-ups:
First Followup

During the initial follow-up on September 10, 2024, new lesions had developed on the foot, neck, and chest region. Additionally, existing lesions had flared up with intense pain and itching, as well as sticky or bloody discharge from the lesions.

Second Followup

According to the follow-up on November 24, the patient began to recover, her old lesions began to heal, and there were sporadic new lesions, but the discomfort and itching had improved.

Third Followup

According to the follow-up on January 25, she had improved by about 70–80%, with no new eruptions, the previous ones having healed, and there was no longer any discomfort or itching.

Fourth Followup

At the follow-up on March 25, she was fully symptom-free and eruption-free, and she expressed happiness and gratitude.

She was still receiving treatment to improve her recovery and avoid relapsing.

Conclusion:

In diseases like Prurigo nodularis with an autoimmune background, homeopathy has helped the patient lead a normal and symptom-free life; also, the homeopathic treatment has helped prevent relapses and thus also take away stress from the patient’s life. The success of homeopathy in such difficult cases had been a great achievement and milestone in itself.
