The urticarial eruptions or hives, are red and raised lesions above the skin, accompanied by intense itching and local warmth, and sometimes cause burning of the affected area. The eruptions vary in size and tend to recur. They can remain for a variable period, ranging from a few seconds to hours. In a few patients, urticaria, or hives, appears once a day, while others experience it multiple times a day. Some patients get one or two eruptions, and a few patients suffer from hives all over the body. In urticaria, wheals or hives appear and disappear repeatedly and tend to recur. It affects around 20%–25% of people at some point in their lives. Urticaria could be acute or chronic, or based on the extent of spread: whether it can be mild, moderate, or severe. Urticaria with frequent episodes of angioedema is difficult to treat. The cause could be allergic or non-allergic. Current or past use of antihistamines or steroids or prolonged use of antihistamines or steroids makes the case more difficult to treat.
Mr. P.K., a 62-year-old male, visited Life Force Homeopathy, Vashi branch (Patient ID: 55916), with a presenting complaint of chronic erythematous papular eruptions with itching and burning sensations, predominantly on hands, thighs, neck, back, legs, and chest. There was intermittent swelling on the lips. A diagnosis of chronic urticaria was made, with a background of seborrheic dermatitis for 15 years and benign prostatic enlargement for the past 12–15 years, managed conservatively, with no current medications.

Positive for psoriasis (father).
Medication History
- Zempred (Methylprednisolone) – ½ tablet SOS
- Allegra (Fexofenadine) – 1 tablet daily
- Psychiatric medication: Antipsychotics were taken for 1 year (2018–19)
At Life Force Homeopathy, detailed case taking was done. Dr. Rajesh Shah studied the case, and according to the totality of the symptoms, Carcinosin 30 was prescribed. Diet and lifestyle changes were advised. Blood investigations were done. Some supplement deficiency was found, so vitamin supplements were suggested.
Follow-up and Progress

Reduction in the frequency and intensity of hive formation was observed. Itching and burning also decreased. After a few days, hive formation occurred more frequently after taking antibiotics due to fever and a cold. Conventional medicine was then stopped.

Significant improvement was noted. Hive formation and itching were much better. Allegra was needed only once in 20–25 days.
23 Feb 2025
The condition remained stable. Mild daily itching continued, with occasional burning. Allegra was used once every 3–4 days.
7 Apr 2025
No hive episodes were reported in the past 2 months. Mild itching (legs, hands, back) persisted but was manageable. Allegra was completely stopped. A 70% improvement was recorded.
18 May 2025
An 80% overall improvement was noted. No urticaria episodes had occurred in the last 3 months. Only mild occasional itching (legs, back) was reported. No antihistamines were required.
Conclusion
This case illustrates the successful application of individualized Life Force homeopathic treatment in chronic urticaria, showing notable improvement without reliance on antihistamines or corticosteroids. The recovery was gradual and steady.
