Common causes include aging, certain auto-immune diseases, hormonal changes, certain medications, etc.
Persons older than 50 years, women, particularly of menopausal age, low vitamin levels, wearing contact lenses, or after refractive surgery, can increase the risk factor for developing dry eyes.
Case Study
A 58-year-old patient (PIN: 50694) visited Life Force Homeopathy, Jayanagar Branch on 13th July 2023 for his complaint of dry eyes that he had been suffering from for 6 months. His presenting symptoms were burning of the eyes which was better with constant blinking of the eyes. He had constant fatigue sensation in the eyes with redness.
A detailed case history was taken including his mental and physical generals.
Physical Generals
The patient was a pure vegetarian, had an average appetite, and was fond of sweets. He had an average thirst and drank about 2.5 liters of water daily. He had an average perspiration and was intolerant to the cold weather. His bowel movement was satisfactory with no urinary symptoms.He enjoyed a very sound sleep and preferred lying on the sides.
Psychological Make-Up
The patient was mild, gentle, at the same time, very anxious about his health. Though polite, the patient was very strict with his principles. He was very systematic, and punctual, and wanted things to be organized well.
He could not forget and forgive people easily if in case he was hurt. The patient was very jovial outside his home; however, he was very strict at home.
Dr. Shah went through the entire case file and prescribed medicines after a proper analysis of the case to the patient.
Follow-Ups
The patient was almost 70% better in the first follow-up itself which was done on 28th August 2023. There was no burning sensation, no repeated blinking of eyes. He had a slight dryness feeling of the eyes in the morning hours on waking.
By 20th October 2023, the patient was fully better. So, he stopped the further treatment.
