A 50-year-old male (PIN: 39487) approached us in February 2019 for the treatment of his complaints of Trigeminal neuralgia. It was affecting his capacity to work. He was suffering from it for 20 years and had been taking Tab. Tegretol 600 mg daily for the last 10 years. But, for the last 4 to 5 months, his medicines were not effective and the condition was not responding to them.

The pain occurred daily every 5 to 10 minutes and would be electric-shock-like pain. It used to start from the left side of the head radiating to the upper jaws to the front teeth. The slightest movement, touch, and draft of cold air were unbearable, despite taking conventional medicines. The pain was a bit relieved by hot fomentation.

All possible investigations including MRI Brain were done and turned out to be normal.

Due to the pain, his work was majorly affected as the patient was unable to speak longer. So, he could not express his ideas and concepts at work.

Based on his case details, Dr. Shah prescribed research-based Homeopathic medicines to the patient.

Follow-Ups:

At the next follow-up 4 months after starting our treatment, the patient’s intensity of the pain had reduced. The patient could chew food without having pain and could speak longer and better. He was advised to continue the conventional medicines along with homeopathic medicines.

In the next two months, the patient’s pain had reduced considerably. Based on the recent follow-up, Dr. Shah prescribed medicines for him. In between, the patient had stopped medicines for 7 to 8 months as the pain had subsided a lot. Also, there was a gap in the treatment, despite advising him to continue. The pain had increased; so, he was prescribed medicines accordingly by Dr. Shah.

Since July 2020, the pain had reduced again. The patient had stopped conventional on his own.

He was solely on homeopathic medicines as prescribed by Dr. Shah.

After about 9 to 10 months of homeopathic treatment, the pain had reduced to a mild pricking sensation twice or thrice a day. The patient was irregular with his medicines.

In the next four months, the pain was further reduced and used to occur only when exposed to cold drafts. He was prescribed medicines accordingly by Dr. Shah.

Since August 2021, the patient is considerably better and solely on homeopathic medicines. Now, a dull flickering sensation occurs very rarely. So, he is continuing his treatment as advised.

Conclusion:

This case study shows a remarkable improvement in relief with homeopathy in chronic and severe cases of trigeminal neuralgia. The patient is leading a pain-free and improved quality of life without conventional medicines.
