This is the case of a 59 year old gentleman Mr. V.N.K (Patient ref no: L6932) who reported to us with complaints of increased frequency of urination since the past 4 months. He was diagnosed as having Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (BPH) through sonography findings. He would develop an uncontrollable desire for urination and the frequency was 10 to 15 times during the day and almost 4 to 6 times at night. All this had disturbed him a lot and he developed great fear of going out or socializing with people.
Along with this he also complained of unsatisfactory stools since the past 3 to 4 years that were aggravated after eating oily food and gram flour items. Also he was a known case of rectal prolapse since the past 20 years. He had undergone a sub-total thyroidectomy 12 years back.
He had an average appetite with no particular likes or dislikes about foods. He was a retired banker. He had great anxiety about his health and used to worry a lot about his son who suffered from many health problems and was jobless for years. He was quite religious by nature and performed his prayers regularly.
His father too suffered from BPH and his mother had diabetes mellitus. He had suffered from Meniere’s disease in the past which recovered completely after Homeopathic treatment.
Based on the above history, a constitutional Homeopathic remedy was selected that would cover his entire complaints. Accordingly, a constitutional Homeopathic remedy Ferrum Picricum 30 to be taken thrice a day for 3 weeks was prescribed along with a single dose of Thuja 200. When he reported to us after 3 weeks his urinary frequency had reduced to 6 to 8 a day i.e. up to 50%. He also mentioned that he could control his urination desire for a few minutes which was impossible before. He continued with the same medications and next when he reported after another 4 weeks his complaints were better up to 75%. In the subsequent visits he showed further improvement and was asked to continue the medications for another few months. His anxiety levels have shown significant improvement over a period of time and now he is no more scared to move about in the society as he has been able to overcome his ailments to a great extent with homeopathy in a considerably shorter duration of time.
