Child Finds Long-Term Relief from Frequent Allergic Colds with Homeopathic Treatment

On February 7, 2024, a 9-year-old boy from Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands (Patient ID: 51499) came to our Bangalore branch accompanied by his parents for treatment for an allergic common cold. He had frequent cold episodes that started with sneezing and a runny nose and progressed to throat pain, nose blockage, and head heaviness over the past three to four years. During severe episodes, he also experienced productive cough, chest congestion, and fever. The frequency of getting cold was every 2-3 times a month lasting for 4-5 days. During his episodes, he has been treated with Levocetirizine and a nebulizer. Any cold foods, ice cream, and weather changes would trigger his cold.
Physical generals:
The child had a strong, good appetite, though his appetite reduced during common cold episodes. He had a preference for non-vegetarian foods, especially chicken, and fish, and he also enjoyed eating sweets. His thirst was average and his bowel movements were regular and he sweated moderately all over his body. At times his sleep was interrupted due to nose block, and sneezing episodes during the night, otherwise there were no issues related to sleep. He preferred mildly cooler weather and was not able to tolerate extremes of weather.
Mental Generals
He was a naturally confident and expressive child with genuine affection for people around him. His confidence was evident while taking the case history; he engaged in the conversation and was willing to talk with the doctor and even with unknown people around him. His blend of affection and warmth made him well-liked and demonstrated a positive, approachable child.
He was given four pills of Tuberculinum-30 three times. In addition, the parents were properly informed about the scope, duration, and prognosis of their son's homeopathic treatment. It was suggested that allergy medications and nebulization be administered whenever necessary simultaneously with homeopathic treatment, as it takes time for homeopathy to build immunity and the frequency of episodes will decrease over time. So during his acute episodes, it was advised to give SOS allopathic medicines.
Follow-Ups
After 8 weeks of homeopathic medicines during his first follow-up dated 24th April 2024, his parents reported around 30-40% improvement in his common cold condition. The frequency was reduced; however, the duration of illness would remain for 3-4 days, and for 2 times there was a need to give the allopathic medicines however the intensity was also getting better.
By June 2024 he improved further and didn't have a major cold episode. During mild episodes, he was taking the additional homeopathic medicines dose as needed and didn't rely on allopathic medicines to settle his acute episodes. With homeopathy steam inhalation and gargles, his episodes started to subside.
In August 2024 there was around 50-60% improvement.
On October 18, 2024, the parent-reported good control of his condition, with significant improvement in cold and cough episodes, and was stable for many months. The frequency, duration, and intensity of his complaints were drastically reduced after starting Homeopathic treatment and importantly the dependency on allopathic medicines.
