A 9-year-old girl child, Miss. A. D. (PIN: 26911) started her treatment at Life Force for her complaints of vitiligo. She visited our Chembur branch in September 2015 with vitiligo patches over her cheeks, septa of the nose, hypopigmentation over her lips, her eyelids, under her eyes, and spots over her left and right arms. The patient had dryness of skin and lips.
She never used a cream or steroids nor took any medications for hypopigmented patches.A proper assessment of the patient was done and her complete family history was taken. The patient was advised to use sunscreen and moisturizers.
Personal History
The child’s appetite was low. She would eat slowly with small portions at a time. The patient was a choosy eater and underweight. Deworming was done on time. The patient has an aversion to vegetables.
After studying her case in detail, Dr. Shah prescribed research-based homeopathic medicines to the patient.
Follow-Ups
From September 2015 to July 2017
The patient showed slow and gradual improvement after the first follow-up. All the spots on her face showed re-pigmentation over time and were invisible. She experienced further improvement up to 90% to 95% till 2017 with no spread. No new spots were seen on her face or any body parts. The dryness all over the face and over the lips had reduced.
In December 2018
At the end of the year 2018 i. e. in December, the patient had a flare-up of a new patch under the right eye and right hand, and the probable reason for this sudden flare-up may have been that the patient was approaching puberty and towards the menarche. She had further aggravation and new complaints such as dryness and itching around the eye.
After further prescription, the patient started showing improvement and re-pigmentation in the vitiligo spots. On 17th September 2019, the patient was overall better, but a few spots were more prominent above her right eyebrow and right upper eyelids. No spread nor new spots had developed.
During the follow-up in April 2021, it was noted that there was a mild relapse of spots under the eyes and over the bridge of the nose which started in March 2021. It might have occurred due to the stress related to her exams during that period. The spots showed dull fluorescent under the Wood’s Lamp, patch over the lower lip was only visible under Wood’s lamp. These patches showed re-pigmentation within a year.
