Holistic Homeopathic Care for Lumbar Spondylosis with Steady Symptomatic Relief
A 37-year-old woman with long-standing lumbar spondylosis and recent flare-ups sought a supportive homeopathic approach after limited benefit from conventional care. Individualized medicines, guidance on diet, and exercises helped reduce pain, stiffness, radiating discomfort, and tingling over successive follow-ups. With continued treatment, symptoms eased up to 80–90%, offering sustained functional improvement.

Lumbar spondylosis, categorized as a form of arthritis, stems from the progressive deterioration of the lumbar spine's discs and joints. This condition typically evolves as the discs lose their ability to cushion and the joints undergo degenerative changes. Consequently, bone spurs may develop on the vertebrae and nearby structures, further impeding the spine's range of motion and potentially causing nerve compression.
Symptoms of Lumbar Spondylosis:
Lower Back Pain: persistent or intermittent pain in the lower back, often described as aching or stiffness.
Sciatica: a pain that radiates from the lower back down to the buttocks, thighs, and legs, often referred to as sciatica.
Stiffness: reduced flexibility and stiffness in the lower back, especially after periods of inactivity or in the morning.
Muscle weakness: weakness in the legs or feet, which may affect mobility and balance.
Numbness or Tingling: Sensations of numbness, tingling, or a "pins and needles" feeling in the lower back, buttocks, legs, or feet.
Limited Range of Motion: difficulty bending, twisting, or performing activities that involve the lower back.
Pain Worsening with Activity: Increased pain during activities such as walking, bending, lifting, or standing for long periods.
Tenderness: tenderness or sensitivity in the lower back muscles or spine when touched.
Bowel or Bladder Dysfunction: In severe cases, nerve compression can lead to problems with bowel or bladder control (a medical emergency known as cauda equina syndrome).
Causes of Lumbar Spondylosis
Aging: The primary cause of lumbar spondylosis is aging. As we age, our spinal discs lose moisture and elasticity, leading to degeneration and shrinkage. This results in decreased cushioning between vertebrae, increasing the likelihood of bone-on-bone contact and the development of conditions like osteoarthritis.
Dehydrated Discs: Spinal discs act as shock absorbers between vertebrae. With age, these discs lose water content and become less flexible, making them more prone to wear and tear. This dehydration can lead to decreased disc height and potentially contribute to conditions like herniated discs or spinal stenosis.
Osteoarthritis: osteoarthritis is a progressive condition where the cartilage that cushions the joints deteriorates over time.
Bone Spurs: As cartilage in the spine degenerates, bone-on-bone contact can lead to the development of bone spurs (osteophytes).
Injury: Trauma or injury to the spine, such as from a fall or car accident, can accelerate the degenerative process.
A case of female age 37 years old registered in January 2024 (Patient ID: 53427) in Life Force Homeopathy Branch Pimpri with K/C/O Lumbar Spondylosis since 8-10 years back with recent exacerbation since 2-2.5 months with dull pain in lower back, especially in morning with stiffness and tingling sensation with radiating pain to right hip and thigh, unable to stand for long duration. For 1 month only (in Nov 2023): She took Tab: Pregalin 75 mg (Pregabalin 75 mg) and Tab. Wysolone 20 mg (Prednisolone) for 1 week, followed by 10 mg for 1 week. With this, she was having pain in the cervical region also. History: 2013 Appendicectomy 2012
Family history: Paternal Grandfather- HTN & DM
Investigations:-(25.10.2023) MRI of LS Spine
Imp:
Bilateral spondylolysis at L5-S1 level with grade 1 anterior spondylolisthesis.
Her case was studied in detail, and, as per the case, Dr. Rajesh Shah considered the need for investigations and prescribed medicines and a diet specifically tailored to her. Exercise was also discussed and shared.
Follow ups:-
First follow-up:
In March 2024, the lower back pain radiating to the right hip joint and thigh, with stiffness, decreased by 10–20%; she had not taken any allopathic medicines.
Second follow-up:
Follow-up in May 2024 showed a 20-30% improvement. Pain & stiffness have reduced. Pain in the left hip has reduced moderately. Pain in the right hip is decreasing gradually. No tingling and numbness, and no allopathic treatment was taken.
Third follow-up:
In July 2024, her complaints were aggravated again since the last 25 days; lower back pain as well as stiffness had increased than before, as well as right sciatica pain too. Between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., her complaints were worse, but she didn’t take any allopathic treatment; according to symptoms, the medicine was modified.
Fourth follow-up:
In September 2024, ailments have been aggravated over the last two and a half months; low back pain, stiffness, and right sciatica pain have worsened. No specific trigger factor has been observed here. Previously, the night aggravation was there; now the pain lasts all day. No such change was noticed
Fifth follow-up:
In November 2024, the frequency, severity, and duration of lower back pain and stiffness have decreased since 1 week, and she now experiences pain only after overexertion. The tingling in the right foot after exertion was also mildly better. In October 2024, the patient took Xerodol OD for 15 days; after that, she was better.
Last follow-up:
In January 2025. For 25 days, pain and stiffness in the lower back were reduced significantly. Tingling in the right foot was also absent. The patient didn’t take any allopathic treatment. After November, it was better 80-90% with the help of Life Force Homeopathic Rx
Conclusion:
With the help of homeopathic treatment, a degenerative change was present with intense pain. After taking homeopathic treatment, her symptoms were better, and after that, there was no recurrence, so its always a better option in such degenerative cases to start & opt for homeopathic treatment for symptomatic relief and to prevent further degeneration progress.
